Boston’s Talk Evolution, 96.9 FM WTKK Holds Radio-thon
and Online Auction to Benefit Fisher House Boston
A Home for Families of Wounded and Ill Veterans
Boston, MA (December 9, 2008): Boston’s Talk Evolution, 96.9 FM WTKK and Michael Grahamwill host a three hour radio-thon to help raise money to build Fisher House Boston, a home away from home for New England families of wounded and ill veterans.
The radio-thon will take place on Friday, December 12, 2008 from 9 am until 12 noon and will feature stories from troops and their families and the work of Fisher House. In addition, Michael Graham will be joined in studio by Kenneth Fisher, Chairman and CEO of the Fisher House Foundation and will talk with many supporters of Fisher House, including Colin Powell, Curt Schilling, and Oliver North, among others. Michael has worked with the Fisher House for many years and says, "The Fisher House gives people across New England the chance to show their love and support for our military directly, by building wounded soldiers and vets thisspecial home here in Boston.” He continues, “I've traveled to Iraq, Kuwait, Germany and across America in support of our military, and the one thing active duty service members have told me again and again is that they appreciate the work we've done on behalf of Fisher House."
Also kicking off on Friday, December 12th, 96.9 FM WTKK will host the Fisher House Online Auction. The auction will run from 9 am on Friday, December 12, 2008 through 5 pm on Thursday, December 18, 2008. Money raised from the radio-thon and online auction will go tobuilding Fisher House Boston, a facility featuring 20 suites, a common kitchen, laundry facilities, spacious dining room, a living room with library, and toys for children. Fisher Houses and the Fisher House Foundation play a crucial role in helping veterans recover from the serious wounds they have suffered. Fisher Houses enable family members to be close to their loved ones during hospitalization and gives them a safe, comfortable, home-like environment, making it easier for them to participate in the care and recovery of their loved ones.
