Franco Spaliviero

Born in S.Germano dei Berici (Vicenza, Italy) in 1957, he now lives and works in Verona.

After achieving his leaving certificate in Maturita’ Artistica (Fine Arts), he then specialized in Anatomical and Surgical Drawingat the prestigious Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Bologna.

After working for editors of medicine and science, in 1979 he starts with graphics for advertisement and children literature.

His reputation will soon spread and become quickly world-wide, ending up with publications for the following major editors:

In 2006, 2007 e 2008 he worked for ICS on projectPhysiokarmaaiming,through drawing descriptions, at identifying and classifying the main body features of the Mediterranean area ( as part of a science called antropometrics).

Meanwhile his illustrations and graphics products would be published by:Bolla, Duto, L'Arena, Il giornale di Vicenza, Il giornale di Brescia, Carrera, S.Marco, Ferroli, Computek, Wirer, Clarks.

From 1984 to 2007, he is a partner of Prima & Goodwill, a well known marketing and communication agency.

He would then teach for The International School of Illustration of Venice Teatrio(Scuola Internazionale dell'Illustrazione di Venezia).

Since 1996, as part of the show I Migliori Illustratori Italiani(together with Luzzati, Altan, Galloni, Testa, Ventura, Nidasio, Toppi...) he takes part to numerous exhibitions in Italy and abroad.

In 1994 he is in theCorso Superiore di Disegno at the famous Fondazione Antonio Ratti of Como with visiting professors as Karel Appel e Anish Kapoor ( see recent exhibitions in London).

His initial passion for Human Body Design comes back in the same year when he starts a personal research that will lead to various exhibitions, culminating with a wide collection of works , named Ethnoscape, standing at the Biblioteca Civica of Verona ( the Civic Library of Verona) for the whole summer of 2001.

In year 2000, he is formally certified as professor of Artistic Anatomy e Special Graphical Techniques so that he can teach in all the State Academies of Italy.

In January 2006, he opts out the offer of a place as professor at the Accademia Albertina of Turin,deciding instead to continue to teach at the Accademia di Belle Arti ( Academy of Fine Arts) "G.B. Cignaroli" of Verona, where he had been lecturing in Artistic Anatomy since 1987 and since 2003 also in Human Figure Drawing, Basics of Morphology and Dynamic Morphology.

Since 1996, for the Academy of Fine Arts of Verona ( “G.B. Cignaroli), and together with his students he has realized and published the following illustrated books:

Pisanello, artista cortigiano, published in 1996 by Electa, in collaboration with Museo Civico di Castelvecchio.

G.B.Cavalcaselle, alle origini della storia dell'arte, published in 1998 by Nuovi Orizzonti, a joint work with Diego Arich, professor of History of Art.

L’Arena di Verona, duemila anni di storia e di spettacolo ( The Arena of Verona , two millenniums of history and spectacles, published in 2002 by Fondazione Arena di Verona, again with the collaboration of Diego Arich.
