1.HIGHLIGHT

  • Interagency Fleet Managing agreement extended at “no cost” for two extra months
  • Triage centresinstalled at both international airportsas part of Ministry of Health pandemic flue prevention strategy.

2. SECURITY

  • Security Phase 3 is confirmed as no major incidents happened and no influenza cases reported in country.
  • Noting to report connected to Cluster or Inter-Agency Fleet Activities

3. BORDER CROSSING:

  • Nothing to report, except that other than from airplane passenger, the Influenza could hit the Country from its border with Dominican Republic
  • Triage Centres established with WFP and Log cluster Support are operational. Screeningfor incoming passengers will start at International Airports.

4. LOGISTICS COORDINATION:

  • No Logistics Cluster Meeting was held this week in Port au Prince as Monday the 18thwas the national day and a day off.The meeting was anticipated to Friday the 15th.
  • On the 25th of May the Cluster meeting for Artibonite region will be held in Gonaive.

5. CIVIL MILITARY COORDINATION:

  • 2008 response LL and 2009 preparedness workshop with MINUSTAH, USAID, OFDA, US Army, Canadian Cooperation, France Cooperation, was held on 22 May.
  • Meeting with MINUSTAH Chief of Joint Operation Centre isschedule for next week in preparation of a common exercise.

6. AIR OPERATIONS:

  • Nothing to report

7. INFRASTRUCTURE:

  • As part of the Pandemic Flue outbreak response,two triage Centres at Haiti Port Au Prince International Airport and Cap Haitien International Airport were built with WFP support (6 prefabs delivered and assembled) and handed to the Ministry of Health.

8. TRANSPORT SECTOR:

  • WFP agreement with Atlas / HI extended at no cost for two months, up to 24 July 2009, as budget allowed this and parties agreed. Ways forward after this extension are being discussed.
  • The interagency fleet continues to operate, from the 04/05 to 15/05 transported:

  • Discussion on going with the WFP shipping section on cabotage boats deployment

9. FUEL:

  • Rupture in Fleet stocks repaired. Forecast for the next three months has been prepared and shared with Procurement Unit to avoid this problem again. Purchase procedure started.
  • Discussion on preposition fuel stocks on going

10. OTHER

  • On 21st of May Logistics Cluster Officer participated in OCHA’s Inter Cluster meeting presenting Logistics Cluster preparation status for the incoming cyclonic season
