Listed below are just a few volunteer opportunities. Stop by the Airman and Family Readiness Center (A&FRC) located in building 1114 across the parking lot from the Base Clinic or call 662 434-2790 for more information and to complete a Volunteer Application.

Volunteers are needed at the following CAFB agencies/organizations:

American Red Cross/CAFB Medical Clinic – Listing of volunteer opportunities:

-Pharmacy (no qualifications required)

-Dental Assistant (formal training)

-Family Health Clinic Administrative Assistant (no qualifications required, must be able to provide at least 1 day per week on a long term basis)

-HAWC Administrative Support (no qualifications required)

-Lab Phlebotomist (formal training and/or certification)

-Medical Records Administrative Support (no qualifications)

-Mental Health Administrative Support (no qualifications)

-Physical Exams Volunteer in Family Health or Flight Medicine (LPN license)

-Physical Therapy Assistant (formal training as a PT assistant)

-Information Systems Volunteer (no qualifications required)

Call 662 434-2292 for more info. The base medical clinic volunteers receive an America Red Cross orientation training prior to their start.

Base Chapel – Has many volunteer opportunities in areas including Vacation Bible School, Sunday School & Pioneer Club teachers, Dorm Dinner, choir, Admin help if interested please give them a call at 662 434-2500.

Thrift Store – Operated by the Columbus Spouses’ Club to serve the base community and raise funds for charitable purposes. The store is located in building 530, the corner of Imes and Seventh Street. Days/Hours of Operation: Tuesday/Thursday 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Retiree Activities Office – Information and referral activities for retirees and their families. Volunteer needed 2 to 3 days per week. If interested and for more info, call 662 434-2314.

Airman’s Attic – Is a volunteer nonprofit program that assists junior enlisted members (pay grades E-1 thru E-5) in obtaining basic household items at no cost. This program is operated solely by volunteers. Days/Hours of Operation: Tuesday/Thursday 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. and Saturday 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon. Located in building 530, the corner of Imes and Seventh Street. For more info, call the store manager at 662 434-1614.

Force Support Squadron activities needing volunteers:

Library - Story time at the Base Library is looking for volunteers to read every Wednesday from 10:00 a.m.-10:30 a.m. Volunteers needed also for special events and programs. For more info, call 662 434-2934.

Golf Course - Volunteers are needed for special weekend projects in course maintenance including grounds & landscape cleanup, power washing equipment, interior self-help projects. For more info call 662-434-7932.

Marketing – Force Support Squadron Marketing office is in need of volunteers to assist in passing out flyers, door hangers to market special events. For info call 662-434-2337.

Youth Center - constantly needs volunteer support with such areas as one-time special events, tutoring & mentoring, camps, lock-ins, and coaching youth sports. The youth sports coach will receive training prior to season. For more info on opportunities call 662 434-2504.

Child Development Center – The CDC is always seeking volunteers for reading to the children, helping with garden projects, putting together equipment and special events. For more info, call 662 434-2479.

Airman & Family Readiness Center – Volunteer opportunities exist in a variety of programs and special events. Contact the Volunteer Resources Program manager at 662 434-2790.

College Special Project/ Practicum Opportunities:

College students looking for opportunities or practicum & special projects experience in Force Support Squadron activities should contact the Volunteer Resources Program manager at 662 434-2790.
