1. Introduction:
· Phil Mason welcomed everyone to the Forum; he went through the code of conduct and then invited members to share any events and activities.
· Tracy and Francesca from thebox TV: They meet on the 1st Thursday of every month at the Elderdale community centre in Breightmet, they meet at 1:30pm for a chat then at 2pm settle down to watch a film.
· Caribbean Elders meet every Monday at Halliwell Ucan where they have different activities, they are having an open day on the 30th July and all are welcome.
· Carla Woods: Bolton Boccia Club meet on a Monday night at St Josephs School in Horwich from 6pm-7pm, ages range from 7 upwards.
· David Jackson from Association of Bolton Allotment Societies: Bolton Vegetable Show at the Market Place on Thursday, Friday and Saturday .The Allotted Art Exhibition is running (Thurs – Sunday 11.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.) in the Market Place (Neo:Gallery 27 on the 1st Floor) until the end of July and possibly ‘til August 7th. For additional events please go to abas2014.blogspot.co.uk (The Allotted Art Exhibition has now finished due to unexpected circumstances)
· Mandy Wildman from Group Analysis North explained about training opportunities and group work skills and how they could they help/work with organisations and the local community within Bolton.
2. Feedback from Forum consultation, Heather Potter, Volunteer Centre, Bolton CVS
Heather went through the feedback from the previous meeting, going through the practicalities of the forum including times, location, venue and format from the feedback from attendees. Following suggestions from members at the last Forum consultation discussion, today’s Forum started at 12 noon so that people could bring their lunch and network, name badges were provided for attendees and the agenda included presentations from a range of voluntary and community organisations. Heather introduced the new Bolton CVS monitoring form and asked attendees to use the form to provide feedback and suggestions and ideas for future Forum meetings.
3. Celebrating local achievements and success- Queens Award for Voluntary Service presentations:
1. Tony McNally: Bolton Mountain Rescue. Tony gave a presentation and short film giving an insight into the work of the organisation and what it is like to be a volunteer with Bolton Mountain Rescue.
2. Dave Bagley: Urban Outreach. Dave gave a talk and showed a short film showing Urban Outreach and Bolton at Home getting packages together to give out over the Christmas period, called Christmas Dinner on Jesus. Link to you tube: https://www.youtube.com/user/UrbanOutreachBolton.
3. Saeed Atcha: Xplode Magazine. As Saeed couldn’t make it to the forum he produced a short film:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VeqKA2vghMQ
4. Diane Hawkins: Bolton Scout Trust. Diane gave a brief outline of the organisation from buying Bibbys Farm, developing buildings and the outdoor centre. All volunteers lead on a 7 day a week basis. They now have a paid full time Centre Manager. Diane talked about the awards in previous years. In 2015 one award was given to Fort Alice in Bolton and in 2014 no awards were given. In Greater Manchester this year 26 awards were given out. In 2015 21 awards were given out and in 2014, 15 awards were presented to groups. Diane explained the process of application and encouraged people to nominate groups.
4. Andrew Hughes: Bolton College:
Andrew Hughes, Enterprise and Employability Co-ordinator at Bolton College gave a presentation about work placement needs for students on courses at the College, for example: Catering; Business studies; Art and Design courses.
Feedback to the College from employers tell them that careers advice in school is not good enough, young people do not have a positive attitude, or the relevant employability skills and work experience is a significant factor when recruiting staff.
The College are looking for opportunities for students to get involved in:
· Employer support/course input
· Live Projects/Briefs
· Workplace Tours
· Industry Expert Talks
· Work Placements
Andrew explained that a work placement is an unpaid role within your organisation, designed to give a young person an insight into your organisation and sector.
Andrew gave some examples of who they work with:

· Norman Walsh
· Barnardo’s
· Thicketford Day Centre
· Chai Times
· PC World/Currys

5. CVS Training & Funding Update:
· Sharon provided a ‘run-through’ of current training / workshop activities at Bolton CVS. Lists of sessions were circulated to members. www.boltoncvs.org.uk/training
· Sharon provided an update of two funds. These included Big Lottery Celebrate Fund for groups to organise, community celebration events, marking anniversaries of groups, ideal for summer activities, community history, local heroes. www.biglotteryfund.org.uk/global-content/programmes/england/celebratefund
· Asda – Chosen By You Given By Us. This supports Asda’s Community Life programme. If you would like to nominate a charity or good cause please go to www.asdafoundation.org or call into your nearest store.
· Members received a copy of the latest bulletin and informed they could access the bulletin on the Bolton CVS website. www.boltoncvs.org.uk/funding
6. Vision Partnership Update:
· David Bagley provided an update on the Vision partnership. This included that items discussed at Bolton Voluntary & Community Sector Forum were being fed back into the Vision Partnership. The Community Vision Strategy has been completed and will be launched soon. There will be the Annual Vision Conference in early December.
