Boiler MACT and RICE NESHAP Webinar

Tuesday, April 12, 2011

Noon to 1:00 PM EDT

The Air & Waste Management Association – New England Section (A&WMA-NES) is pleased to provide a neutral forum for institutional, regulatory and private sector professionals to discuss recent and developing changes in global, national and regional environmental regulations and policies.

This 1-hour Webinar will describe the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) ongoing process of implementation, reviewing and revising the National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAPs), and the implications of these standards. The Clean Air Act requires EPA to regulate emissions of toxic air pollutants from a published list of industrial sources referred to as "source categories." On January 19, 2011, the EPA granted a 90-day stay of two provisions in the recently amended RICE NESHAP relating to the operation and maintenance procedures for continuous parametric monitoring systems. The boiler MACT and boiler area source final rules were signed by the EPA Administrator on February 21, 2011. On March 21, 2011 the EPA published a Notice of Selected Reconsiderations.

We are pleased and honored to have Susan Lancey from EPA’s Region 1 present to us the many requirements in these rules and why EPA is initiating reconsideration of a number of issues in the major and area source boiler rules, and the commercial and industrial solid waste incineration rule. Immediately following the presentation there will be Question & Answer period where Ms. Lancey will be accompanied by Brian Shrager, the Boiler MACT rule contact and Melanie King, the RICE NESHAP contact at EPA HQ.
