Board of Education Meeting Minutes
Monday, July 13, 2009
ROLL CALL
President Shawn Hamilton called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. in the Coal City Middle School Library. In attendance were Board members Armand Bianchi, Jeff Emerson, Mary Gill, Curtis Grove, Quint Harmon, Ken Miller and Shawn Hamilton. Superintendent Kent Bugg, Director of Business Services/Technology Jason Smith, Director of Curriculum and Instruction Tammy Elledge, Karen Vota and member of the press Ann Gill were also in attendance.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
President Hamilton led the Board of Education and others present in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.
OLD BUSINESS
A. DISCUSSION/ACTION ON BID AWARDS FOR BID RELEASE #2 OF THE HIGH SCHOOL ADDITION
Sealed bids for bid release package #2 of the High School addition were opened on Tuesday, July 7, 2009. A bid notice was published in the Coal City Courant on June 24, 2009. Recommendations from The George Sollitt Construction Company, for bid packages 5 through 13, and 29 through 32 were reviewed. Mr. Pridmore reported that the project is on schedule and the budget is on target. Mr. Pridmore entertained questions from the Board and reported that the project
1. Mr. Grove moved and Mr. Harmon seconded to accept the lowest responsible bid for Selective Demolition from Break-Thru Enterprises, Inc. with a base bid of $297,300, bid bond of $0, for a total bid amount of $297,300 and to assign the contract to the George Sollitt Company.

2. Ms. Gill moved and Mr. Bianchi seconded to accept the lowest responsible bid for Abatement from Nation Wide Environmental with a base bid of $57,900, bid bond of $0, for a total bid amount of $57,900 and to assign the contract to the George Sollitt Company.

3. Mr. Bianchi moved and Mr. Emerson seconded to accept the lowest responsible bid for Chain Link Fence & Gates from Marchio Fence Co. with a base bid of $153,450, bid bond of $0, for a total bid amount of $153,450 and to assign the contract to the George Sollitt Company.

4. Mr. Emerson moved and Mr. Bianchi seconded to accept the lowest responsible bid for Fertilizing, Seeding & Planting and Ball Field from Allied Landscaping with a base bid of $221,385, bid bond of $3,197, for a total bid amount of $224,582 and to assign the contract to the George Sollitt Company.
