MEETING

Welcome to our April 2017 Newsletter.Meeting opened at 1600 and closed at 1655.

Suggestion from Ken McNeill that Launceston Branch no longer use military rank/titles.

The Branch has no problem with the current situation. Generally, official titles are used only in formal situations, ceremonies and/or correspondence; at lecture sessions, social events, etc., given names and ‘nicknames’ are used. Status quo to remain, subject to constitution.

Request from Alan Robertson for Launceston Branch Council to endorse a proposal to grant Life Membership to Norm MacMillan. Councillors Barnett, Menzie, Best and Tonks Agreed.

Offer from Alan Robertson for Launceston members to purchase books on sale. This list has been circulated to members.

Letter from Joan Waters thanking branch for letter of congratulating her on being awarded Citizen of the Year, West Tamar Council.

Gary Byard has “pencilled in” a booking at the Launceston Club for circa 50 guests for the RUSI annual dinner on the third Thursday in November – the 16th.

The new lapel microphone worked extremely well last lecture.
