BOARD OF SELECTMEN

(Special Meeting)

Meeting Minutes – May 31, 2017

PRESENT: Doug Ludewig – Chair, Timothy McDonald – Vice Chair, and Dianna Boisvert and Sandra Schiller – Members.

ABSENT: Darlene Sanborn – Member.

ALSO PRESENT: Pat Hash, Paul Menice, Tom Beckwith, and Erika Dufor - Parks & Recreation Commission Members, Curtis Lunt - Town Manager, Scott Wing – Recreation Director, and Mark Burgess, Jon Hammann, Jim Grandahl, and Nancy Ludewig.

1.  Workshop with the Parks & Recreation Commission. The commission, established by Ordinance in

1973 has regulations, adopted in 2006. Pat Hash – Chair said the commission has been without a fifth member for several years. Curtis Lunt – Town Manager said he would begin running an advertisement for the opening. Members encouraged the commission to meet more regularly with a posted notice. Sandra Schiller suggested the Town’s Facebook pages could be used to promote participation.

Jim Grandahl and Jon Hammann said they wanted earlier and more attention to the Youth Soccer Program. Scott

Wing said it would become time consuming and that a new Director should decide how much resources to apply. The

commission agreed to meet with the soccer group.

Curtis Lunt said an advertisement has been posted to replace Scott Wing after June 30, 2017. There was some

discussion of giving Lisa Hash – Beach Manager more independence. Pat Hash said an inventory would be needed.

There was some more discussion of soccer leagues and the need for coordination. Sandra Schiller encouraged the

department to work with parents and coaches to make these programs work. Jim Grandahl asked about usage of the

Monmouth Fairgrounds and was advised to work with the Cumston Trustees and the Fair Association.

Dianna Boisvert volunteered to fill the vacancy on the Park & Recreation Commission.

2.  Adjourn. The following motion was made to adjourn the Special Meeting.

MOTION: by Timothy McDonald, seconded by Sandra Schiller to adjourn the Special Meeting at 7:20 pm.

VOTED: 4-0 (Passed).
