II. No July 30th, 2017 BOG meeting minutes were taken due to the lack of attendance, the majority of the meeting was spent on the July 29th work party.

III. Reports

A.President’s report- Michael Barrackman

1.Monthly Call to Kyle Rutledge– Update

2.2017 Mid Year Review:

  1. Membership: Maxwell level, 146% of average chapter size on campus.
  2. Recruitment: Maxwell level, 32% of average chapter size, we ranked #9 in the nation.
  3. National Participation: Order of the Star
  4. Community Service: Mike needs to make sure this is updated.
  5. Philanthropy: Mike needs to make sure this is updated.
  6. Communication: Maxwell lever, but need 1 more newsletter, 1 more alumni event, and 1 press release to the Laurel
  7. Ritual & Regalia: Completed
  8. Risk Management: Maxwell level, No violations, all Risk Management Presentations completed.
  9. Finances: Maxwell

B. IFC – Michael Barrackman

1.IFC Meeting Update – What occurred at the 1st meeting?- There was no meeting yet.

2.Pike’s failure to show for court/suspension- No new information so far.

C. Greek Life – FSA Peter Lenz

1.FSA Update – IFC meetings will take place at 8:00 AM for this semester until elections in November. They are not on the Spring calendar as the 8:00 AM time frame may change.

  1. CC will be leaving in December- Could be a positive thing for the alcohol rules on campus.
  2. Abby is flying solo as Malcolm is focusing on a university wide initiative of men of color retention.
  3. 1st semester freshmen are allowed to go to RUSH, but bids are not allowed to be given out to them.

2.Parent Advisory Meeting Update – Nothing to report

3.Judicial Review Update – Nothing to report

4.Meeting with President – No appointment at this time.

D.Treasurer/Finance – Garrett Jackson & Jake Aughney

1.National Billing – Is current.

2.Were all bills paid on time in July and August? Utilities?-Bills were paid on time except PG&E which was later figured out.

3.Rent Payments Current to BOSF

4.Are any members delinquent in their dues from Spring Semester?- One member is delinquent and is currently suspended until pay.

5.Changing Banks: This is still being considered. Details need to be ironed out, but Chase or another credit union are possible options. The chapter still needs to register as an entity for future banking options.

6.Update on online banking/dues collection.

7.Fall Chapter Budget due by Dec 15th

8.IRS Form 990 due by Nov 15th- This will be completed as soon as possible to avoid fees and later obstacles caused by late pay.

E.Risk Management – Chase Victor & John Gray

1.Risk Management Policy Overview due by October 15th – The first large risk management talk needs to be scheduled. ( Chase and John Gray to discuss) Will be scheduled for early October or late September.

F.Recruitment – Alex Berg

1.What is the budget for the semester? The budget is $3000 for recruiting. We got T-shirts for a cheaper cost so we saved money there. Usually $2000 but we are ending up spending $700.

2.What do you have planned for Fall? Monday- Beach Hot Deli & House Tours

Tuesday- Bubble Soccer & Burgers

Wednesday- Dodgeball & Pizza

Thursday- Formal Dinner

3.Social Media Update- There is a professional videographer coming to make a promo video for next semesters recruitment. We will be blasting information about rush.

4.We had a successful Meet the Greek and got a lot of potential new members contact information.

G.Membership Orientation – Dylan Steele- Absent

1. Are there any changes to Spring Semester’s program- Dylan will be more professional about his position and Mike will be the man to go to with issues and support.

3.Task for signatures will continue to be mild and meant to assimilate the pledges into the chapter in a positive and constructive way.

4.Discussed reintroducing Bios during the associate member process.

H.Social Chair – Christian Doll

1. What is the budget for Fall Semester? $7000- Could go up

2.What events/socials are currently scheduled? August & September Theme parties. Socials with Sigma Kappa, Gamma Phi, and AGD. Trying to schedule ones with ADPi and APhi.Calendar has been sent to John Gray.

3.New T-Shirt company, cheaper and faster turn around.

I. Scholarships and Academics – Brandon Sovik Don Franklin

1.Scholarship Update

  1. What is the budget for Fall Semester? Less than last semester.
  2. Overcoming Underachieving, (Most Improved) – Tom Gosnell, Mike Oliver, and Tony Edler have decided to increase this award each semester from $300 to $600. Spring Semester award is TBD
  3. Highest New Member GPA goes to Cristian Castro with a 3.82 GPA, that will be $191 each from Don Franklin and Doug Hall
  4. John Gray House award was already presented to Michael Catelli last semester.
  5. Highest GPA above 3.0 in Industrial Arts (Construction Management) for the previous academic school year Fall 2016/Spring 2017 combined is TBD
  6. 3.0 Club had 19 repeat members. Their names will be given to Jeff Huckins. One person graduated, leaving 18 to pay out. Great Job!!!!!!
  7. BOSF Scholarships: Outstanding Officer, Outstanding Member in House, and Outstanding Member out of house, will need to be voted on by the chapter. Applicants will present to the chapter why they think they deserve the Scholarships at the Sep 3rd chapter meeting, and voted on the following week Sep 10th meeting..

2. Academics Update: 9 IFC chapters, Avg GPA 2.75. OKT had 2.85, ranked 3rd for fraternities. Lamda Chi had 2.95, and Gamma Zeta Alpha was 2.88 (they only had 8 members). We ranked 11th out of 24 overall, including 8 MGC Chapters, and the 7 Panhellenic Chapters. All undergraduate men’s GPA was 2.77

3.Stressing good grades this semester for our pledges as they were the main anchor last semester.

4.BOSF scholarships elections will be at tonight’s chapter.

I.Alumni Relations – Jack Carlson

1. Fall Alumni Relations Report due Dec 15th

2.Fall Newsletter – start to work on this now. Include what is going to be happening this semester. Include pictures from the July 29th workparty if there were any. - Jack has started working on it.

3.Dad’s Weekend – What activities are planned? Bowling? When is it? November 3rd-5th. Bowling, Sierra Nevada Tour, and poker are all possibilities.

4.The 60th is coming up and the first stages of planning that are underway.

J.Philanthropy – David Chalem

1.Fall Philanthropy Report due Dec 15th

2.Fall Community Service Report due Dec 15th

3.What activities are planned for the Fall Semester? Oasis- September 30th. Fundraiser at Ike’s with Sigma Kappa. Possibly continuing Fire alarm set up.

4.Oasis? Is planned for September30th. What has been done? Everything is done and set. Fences, security, lights, DJ etc.

5.Checklist for planning. Who has it? University, University PD & Chico PD notified? Currently talking to them and working it out. It has been approved by the school.

6.Chalems will handle national posting for community service.

L. House Manager – Michael Catelli& Tony Edler

  1. Were any members delinquent in rent for Spring Semester? Short $150 but will be coming in soon.
  2. Front porch gutter was repaired. The roof is still damaged
  3. We have a 20 X 81/2 foot shipping container was purchased by the BOSF and stored in the back lot. Thank you to anyone involved in getting the container
  4. The basement will be cleaned out at the next work party.
  5. Work Party – July 29th . What was done.
