BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING

January 21, 2015

SPECIAL MEETING

The Pekin Community School Board met in special session on January 21, 2015, at 5:30 p.m. in the board room/media center of the Pekin Community Schools. Board members present were: Baker, Coleman, Copeland, Davis, Greiner, Millikin and Wittrock. Also present were: Tim Hadley, Kim Ledger, Brian Gruhn, Superintendent Dennis Phelps, and Connie Linney.

President Copeland called the meeting to order and acknowledged a quorum. Baker moved to approve the agenda. Greiner seconded. The motion carried

Copeland moved the Board went into closed session in accordance with Iowa Code Section 21.5(1)(c) “To discuss strategy with counsel in matters that are presently in litigation or where litigation is imminent where its disclosure would be likely to prejudice or disadvantage the position of the governmental body in that litigation.” Millikin seconded and on a roll call vote Baker, Coleman, Copeland, Davis, Greiner, Millikin, and Wittrock voted favorably. The motion carried. The closed session was called to order and discussion followed. The time was 5:31.

Following the discussion in closed session, by consensus, the board moved to go out of closed session. There were no objections; the time was 6:12 p.m.

Greiner moved to approve the Separation and Settlement Agreement with JoAnne Morenz. Baker seconded. On a roll call vote Baker, Coleman, Copeland, Davis, Greiner, Millikin, and Wittrock voted favorably. The motion carried.

Davis moved to accept the resignation from JoAnne Morenz. Coleman seconded and on a roll call vote Baker, Coleman, Copeland, Davis, Greiner, Millikin, and Wittrock voted favorably. The motion carried.

Millikin moved to adjourn the meeting. Greiner seconded. The motion carried. The time was 6:13 p.m.
