MEETING CALLED TO ORDER BY: Gov. Paul Simon at 9:00 AM.
GOVERNOR REMARKS: Paul introduced past Governors and8 Lt. Governors. Paul announce the formation of the District’s Facebook and urged all clubs to post photos and happenings of their organization.
REVIEW OF FOURTH QUARTERBOARD MEETING MINUTES:
Motion by Craig Baldwin, seconded by Andrew Stanger and passed to approve the minutes as presented.
REVIEW OF FOURTH QUARTER FINANCIALS. Presented by Craig Baldwin. The 2015-2016 year ended with $6354.99 disbursements over receipts, due to adding 2 awardsprograms during the year after the budget was approved. The district convention’s expenses exceeded revenue by$10,169.09.
REPORTS BY COMMITTEE CHAIRS:
Tony Carpenter, Fitness Chair- building clubs, enhance teamwork through Lt. Governors.
Donna Priester, Oratorical Chair- requested a chair from each club. As JOI chair, Donna introduced three members from Sand Creek High School.Donna announce the formation of a COWY District JOI organizationto begin operations October 1, 2017. The JOI District organizaiontal meeting is planned for April, 2017.
Frank Middleton, Club Building Chair- presented awards to 8 winners.
Curt Merrill,Distinguished Past Governor and Trish Merrill Past Convention Chair- remarked on their work with the South Metro Denver Chamber of Commerce and how their work is bringing together service organizations in the community.
Charlie Pease, NOW Team Chair- spoke on how building clubs helps children in every community
NEW BUSINESS: Craig Baldwin presented the 2016-2017 budget recommended by the Executive Committee. Motion by Joe Priester, seconded by Charlie Priese and passed to approve the budget.
Note: New budget line items are; CCC and club scholarship receipts and disbursements; along with expenses for starting a new District JOI organization.
Moved by John Oss, seconded by Donna Priester and passed to remove the current signatories on the First Bank account and name the following three signatories: Governor Paul Simon, Treasurer Craig Baldwin and Finance Chair Gunar Neumann.
Gunar and Charlie Neumann, Optimist International Ambassadors- announced the location of the 2017 OI convention. It will be held in Albuquerque NM July 6-8 at the Albuquerque Convention Center following the OI JOI convention July 3-6. Rooms are available in three hotels near the convention center. Because of the close proximity to Colorado and Wyoming, everyone is urged to attend.
Note: At the OI JOI convention officers of the new COYW District will be announced.
Closing remarks by governor Paul listed four areas that will mark his year to build optimism.
  1. Club Growth, by holding welcome meetings,
  2. Build Two New Clubs, Englewood being the first,
  3. Form a JOI District,
  4. Build New Leaders, examples cited- 2 new Lt. Governors, Terri Kearney and Andrew Stanger.
