BMS Station PTO Meeting Minutes

Turn-Over Meeting - May 12, 2015

Attendees: Jeanine Stark, President; Jennifer Lekai, First Vice President; Cindy Lenart, Second Vice President; Lisa Meyer, Treasurer; Gwen Cieslak, Secretary; Craig Winkelman, Principal; Jeri Broderick, Cyndi Burks, Melissa Gott, Pam Groom, Keely Hegner, Christine Lunt, Char Meadors, Julie Skowron, Kelly Panesis, Michelle Pashkow, Michelle Price, Catherine Strauss, Jen Swanson, JoJo Trainor, Megan Zastawny

  1. Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 10:10 a.m.
  2. Approval of Minutes: The minutes from the April 14, 2015 PTO meeting were presented. Motion to approve was made by C. Burks and seconded by M. Zastawny.
  3. Principal’s Report
  4. “Girls Driving for a Difference” – BHS alum and Stanford students coming for one day workshop the third week in July. Working with middle school girls to develop a project and help them become leaders. Posting as new addition to summer school program.
  5. Visit from incoming 6th graders underway.
  6. New 6th grade counselor, Michelle Fitzgerald, coming to Station from BHS.
  7. Treasurer’s Report: Lisa Meyer
  8. Received $539 from Heinens customer education program.
  9. Small increase in membership dues. Presented 2014-15 budget to date.
  10. Presented 2014-15 budget to date.
  11. Motion to approve budget made by M. Zastawny and seconded by M. Gott.
  12. Teacher Representative’s Report: Kathy Hempel – no report
  13. President’s Report: Jeanine Stark
  14. Ecology & Grounds – beautiful pansies in front planters, summer flowers to come.
  15. PALS – band and orchestra concert; residents from area nursing homes come to school for performance and lunch.
  16. Fine Arts – school play “Little Mermaid”
  17. Staff Appreciation – total of 140 gift cards donated; raffled daily, everyone received one. Very much appreciated by staff.

  26. 8th Grade Class Gift – exercise bike for fitness room

  36. Suggestions: Continuing to solicit ideas for topics to cover at future PTO meetings; teachers to serve as guest speakers on timely topics.
