WELCOME BACK

Dear Parents/Guardians,

I would like to welcome you to the 2012-13 school year. We have been working hard all summer to better our programs and facilities. We look forward to working with you this year.

Currently we are completing our High School Reregistration Project-this endeavor was initiated to ensure that only residents of Bloomfield attend our High School- named a Met Life/NAASP Breakthrough School in 2012 and a Title I Distinguished School in 2011. We truly appreciate your cooperation throughout the summer-thank you. We will be expanding our reregistration project to our middle school and elementary schools in the near future.

I would like to remind everyone that this year we will not be distributing school calendars- the BLOOMFIELD SCHOOLS2012-13 DISTRICT EVENTS CALENDAR link will be in the middle of our web page. Simply click on the link and download or print out the calendar. If you do not have internet access there will be a limited amount of hard copies available in every school’s main office. I know for many of you this calendar is a bit of a lifeline; though the version you can print from our website may not be as colorful as in the past, itcan still be posted on your refrigerator and used every day.

As a parent/guardian one of your most important avenues for information are your Home & School Meetings. These meetings are a great place to discuss issues and find out about upcoming events. We also offer various channels of communication which include Word on the Street, a link on our website that allows parents/guardians to ask the Superintendent of Schools questions anonymously. It is a great place to post your own question or read answers to questions that interest you. You can also directly email your building principals or district administration; simply use the individual’s first initial then last name followed by @bloomfield.k12.nj.us (Superintendent Jason Bing: ). Furthermore every school has its own website that links to individual teacher homepages. If you prefer speaking to a “live” person, all school phone numbers are located under our District Schools link at the top of our web page.

As it states on our web page, we welcome you to “Come partner with us”. Together, we can make the Bloomfield School District one of the best in the state of New Jersey.

Sincerely,

Bing
