Bleed of Capilano Steering & Rudder Cylinders:

First thing to check on the steering system is that the "tank" on top of Poop-deck steering is filled up with ATF oil. If oil level drops, don’t turn steering wheel before you add oil.

Then start from down, if you can see air in the ¼” transparent hose from autopilot pump to the Wheel-house Steering Cylinder; then bleed the air by slightly loosen the hose clamp under the Wheel-house Steering Cylinder. After the air has been bleeded tighten the clam. Repeat the same procedure on the Poop-deck Steering Cylinder;slightly loosen the clamp on the ¼” transparent hosefrom the Wheel-house Steering Cylinder to the Poop-Deck Steering Cylinder. After the air has been bleeded tighten the clam.

Bleeding system from rudder cylinders. Connect two transparent ¼” hoses on bleeding valves 1 & 2 at the black manifold box and fit 2 bottles to the end of the hoses to contain hydraulic oil from the cylinders.

At Poop-Deck position turn the steering wheel to the end of starboard side. Open bleed valve 1; and slowly turn the steering wheel to STB a few turns and check if there comes air out from the bleeding valves. Close bleed valve 1.

Turn the wheel to the end of Port side. Open bleed valve 2; and slowly turn the steering wheel to Port a few turns and check if there comes air out from the bleeding valve. Close bleed valve 2.

IMPORTANT keep all the time oil level filled up.

There is possibility that you have to do this 2 or 3 times.

Turn and force the wheel fully to STB side to hard over position, this will now need a little bit more power, and leave it in this position for 1 minute. When the steering wheel is forced into hard over position, air bubbles will once again rise up into the filling container.

Then turn and force the wheel fully to Port side and leave it in this position for 1 minute.

Alternating between STB and Port, repeatthis procedure 6 times.

Check the steering system for complete air removal by observes no noticeable drop and rise of oil in the filling container.

Also ones more check the ¼” inch transparent tubes for any remaining air at Wheel House and Poop-Deck steering cylinders.

If any remaining air bubbles found, then above procedure has to bee fully repeated.
