The Community Men’s Sheds Small Grants Scheme

The Irish Men’s Sheds Association has secured funding from The Ireland Funds. €6,000 is available to support the early development of new Community Men’s Sheds in Ireland. The Irish Men’s Sheds Association announces, and welcomes applications for, ‘The Community Men’s Sheds Start-Up Grants’.

Community Men’s Sheds Start-Up Grant Eligibility Criteria

Applicant groups for a Community Men’s Shed Start-Up Grant are required meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • The group is in the early stages of developing their Men’s Shed; i.e. the group of men involved in the Shed have met for this purpose for the first time between the 1st of June 2014 and 31st of December 2014.
  • The applying Men’s Shed is registered to/will register as a member of the Irish Men’s Sheds Association. The funding can only be issued once registration is confirmed.

  • Applications will only be accepted on the official application form. If you would like support or information on filling out the application form please call 051 448 725.
  • Applications are accepted in hard copy to The Irish Men’s Sheds Association, Block 2, 55 Priory Quay, New Ross, Co Wexford or via email to
  • All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application by the 20th February 2015.
  • Applications will be considered for amounts up to a maximum of €500.
  • It is estimated that individual Community Men’s Sheds Start-Up Grants awarded will be in the region of €200 - €400. This will be dependent on the number of eligible applications.
  • Due to the limited funds available those Men’s Sheds which have not received financial support from other voluntary or statuary sources will be prioritised when the applications are being assessed.
  • Completing this application does not guarantee you that Men’s Shed will receive funding from this scheme.
  • The closing date for applications is Friday 16th January 2015 at 5.00pm. Late applications will not be considered.
