BLEACHING INSTRUCTIONS for Home Bleaching.

We have supplied you with a custom bleaching tray and syringes containing tooth whitening gel.

Procedure:

  1. Brush your teeth thoroughly before applying the bleaching gel.
  2. Remove the cap from syringe. Squeeze a blob of gel into the part of the tray whichwill make contact with the front of your tooth. Do this for all the teeth that require whitening.
  3. Place the filled tray over your teeth so that it fits snugly. Press the tray gently to move gel into place.
  4. Wipe off excess gel with toothbrush.
  5. Wear tray for at least six hours for maximum benefit. Wearing the tray during sleep time is ideal and completely safe. Tray can be worn for shorter periods during the day.
  6. After treatment remove the tray and brush remaining gel from your teeth.
  7. The tray should be rinsed, brushed and stored in its case.

Possible side effects.

The gel supplied is completely safe for use in the mouth. Minor side effects such as tooth sensitivity or temporary discomfort on the gums, lips, tongue or throatcan occur. These are usually mild and should resolve after 1-2 days if bleaching is stopped. If any of these symptoms persist please call our clinic for further advice.

Tooth sensitivity can be treated by using desensitising toothpaste and applying it to the teeth via the custom tray. Once the sensitivity disappears bleaching can continue. To avoid further sensitivity bleach every second or third night.

Precautions:

  1. Do not smoke, eat or drink when bleaching gel is in place.
  2. Keep the gel in a cool place. Refrigeration maintains product quality. Do not freeze.
  3. Keep out of children’s reach. Do not bleach during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
  4. Never use household or commercial bleach or peroxide in your mouth and only use the bleaching gel prescribed by your dentist.

Dramatic results should be seen after 2 to3 applications. If not, continue treatment until a distinct colour improvement occurs. Bleaching should not exceed 3 weeks without your dentists consent. Once you have reached the desired colour, store your tray and excess gel as they can be used at a later date for touch up bleaching.
