Full description / 1.  In conjunction with the Manager & other team members, to plan, organise and implement a varied & fun activity programme for all children.
2.  To ensure that individual needs of children are met through planning for them specifically.
3.  To complete feedback sheets/baby diaries for under 2’s to inform parents of days activities, also use sheets between shared setting to enhance communication.
4.  To encourage the pre-school children to take an active part in the rule making and planning process.
5.  To be a key worker to a group of children & observe their interests, likes & dislikes & stages of development.
6.  From observations made, assess what additions to provisions or (if relevant) next steps are needed & record in the planning where this has been done.
7.  Create a learning journey for each child.
Health & Safety
1.  To clear away activities, including mopping, cleaning and sweeping floors.
2.  To ensure all rooms are left in a clean & ordered way after each session.
3.  To supervise groups or individual children in play, carrying out risk assessments if necessary.
4.  To clean toys & equipment on a monthly basis, reporting any hazards, breakages or repairs to the Manager. Record that this has been done on the cleaning schedule sheet.
5.  To have high standards of personal hygiene.
6.  To prepare and clean up after snacks wearing gloves and aprons when preparing food.
7.  Adhere to “Better Food, Better Business” food hygiene regulations & complete records accordingly.
8.  To clean tables with anti-bacterial spray before and after snacks.
9.  To check the toilets regularly throughout the day to ensure cleanliness.
10.  Always escort the children to and from the toilets throughout the session, remembering that the children are very young & need help.
11.  To escort parents out of the building, ensuring all doors are securely closed behind them.
12.  To sign the children in on their arrival and ensure the parents sign them out on their departure.
13.  To ensure the highest levels of safety, security, hygiene and cleanliness are operated at all times.
14.  If you have concerns about a child or a member of staff, to report this immediately to the Manager & / or Proprietor.
15.  Ensure daily checks & general risk assessments are carried out.
16.  Provide full care of the children, including delivery and collection of children to and from their classes. Registers must be checked & children counted when leaving the building to start the day.
General
1.  Contribute to the development of the nursery.
2.  To set a good example to the unqualified staff. Be able to organise, motivate and be a good role model for the other team members. Take an active role in encouraging and supporting other less experienced staff members or volunteers.
3.  Carry out all responsibilities and activities within our equal opportunities & inclusion policies.
4.  Work within Ofsted’s Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum & Welfare Requirements for under 8’s.

Important Other Information / We are happy to accept applications from candidates who already hold a Level 2 CYPW qualification and would like to work towards their Level 3.
This position requires a Criminal Record Check due to working with vulnerable children and young people.
Reality Check / Cleaning is involved, change of nappies and toilet use and long hours.
