Blanco County 4-H and FFA Youth Council Scholarship Application

The purpose of the scholarship is to provide financial assistance to the most capable and deserving Blanco County Youth Show participant wishing to advance their education at a technical school, junior college or major university. (NOTE; there will be one additional scholarship given this spring hopefully each spring going forward in the name of “Sunset Canyon Veterinary Clinic”, this $1000 scholarship will require that the applicant attend a 4-year college or university)

Criteria used in selecting the recipient will include: (1) academic achievement, (2) SAT or ACT scores (if required), (3) achievement in FFA, or 4-H activities, (4) personal involvement in the Blanco County Youth Show, (5) financial need, (6) community and school involvement. Each applicant must be approved by a supervising FFA Advisor, or County Extension Agent. Funds for the scholarship will be sent to the financial aid officer at the institution of the recipient’s choice.

It is mandatory that the scholarship recipient attend a technical school or college the fall semester immediately following selection.

Eligibility and Requirements:To be eligible to apply for the Blanco County 4-H and FFA Youth Council Scholarship & additional scholarship, the applicant must:

  1. Be an active member, in good standing, of a Blanco Co. 4-H program and/or FFA program.
  2. Be a current year graduating senior.
  3. Score at least an 850 on the SAT or an 18 on the ACT (if required)
  4. Have participated in the Blanco County Youth Show.
  5. Have a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
  6. Have three attached letters of recommendation.
  7. Attach a copy of most current transcript.
  8. Attach a one-page autobiography explaining:

  10. Highlights of awards and activities
  11. Future plans and goals
  12. Attach a copy of a letter of acceptance from the school of your choice.
  13. Have completed application and necessary paperwork turned in to the one of the following representatives by NO LATER THAN 5:00 p.m. on March 30, 2018;FFA Advisor, County Extension Agent, or member of the Blanco County 4-H and FFA Youth Council Board; NO Exceptions.
