GIFTED & TALENTED PARENT REQUEST FOR SCREENING
Gifted and Talented parent request for screening is August 25th thru September 26th. If you would like to refer your Kindergarten – Fifth grade child for Klein’s Gifted and Talented Program, please stop by Blackshear and pick up a referral packet from the front office. The deadline for returning the packet is September 24th. If you have questions about referring your child for G/T, please contact the Blackshear Counselor, Sherri Treadway at 832-375-7625 or our Associate Principal, Mary Ellen Sedlacek at 832-375-7612. COOKIE DOUGH FUNDRAISER
Cookie dough fundraiser information will be sent home in Tuesday folders on September 2nd. All orders are due on Tuesday, September 16th and cookie dough delivery will be mid October.
OPEN HOUSE AND PTO MEETING
Fall Open House and PTO meetings are scheduled as follows:
Monday, September 15th 6:30 pm – PTO Mtg.7:00 pm – Open House (3, 4, 5)
Tuesday, September 16th 6:30 pm – PTO Mtg.7:00 pm – Open House (PK, K, 1, 2)
FALL BOOK FAIR
Scholastic Book Fair – Sir Readalot’s Castle: Enter the Kingdom of Books is scheduled for Sept. 22-26 daily from 7:45 am to 3:15 pm. Family Literacy/Game Night is Tuesday, Sept. 23rd from 4:00-7:00 pm and you can shop early on Thursday, Sept. 25th from 7:00-8:00 am.
CAR POOL ARRIVAL/DISMISSAL
AM Car Drop Off: We need your assistance to alleviate the backup on Lacey Road. Please prepare your child for morning car drop off prior to arriving in the drop off lane. The drop off lane is the entire length in front of the school. Staff members are stationed along the entire length. If everyone exits the car when you arrive in the drop off zone, all cars will be able to exit allowing a new group to unload.
Car Pool Numbers: Car pool numbers are critical to the car dismissal time to allow a smooth dismissal. If you need a car pool number, come into the front office to pick up a number. Please remind your student to do the following at dismissal time:
- Listen for the car pool number
- Stand and walk to the exit door when they hear their number or name
- Walk down the sidewalk to their car
Practicing with the car pool number will assist the staff in getting your child to your car faster. Thank you for your support and assistance as students and parents learn the procedures.
CUSTODY ISSUES
Please assist us in the handling of custody related issues. It is the responsibility of the parents to provide the registrar a certified copy of the court order affecting any other person's right to their children. Should you have any questions please call Mr. Luedeker at 832-375-7610.
