1.4 DESIGN / PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS

A. Curtain Materials: Conform to NFPA 701, small scale fire test.

1.5 SUBMITTALS

A. Submit under provisions of Section 01300.

B. Product Data: Manufacturer's data sheets on each product to be used and:

1. Preparation instructions and recommendations.

2. Storage and handling requirements and recommendations.

3. Installation methods.

C. Shop Drawings: Reflected ceiling plan layout of curtain track, track suspension points, track attachment details, number of carriers, curtain sizes, and accessories.

D. Verification Samples: For each finish product specified, two samples, minimum size 6 inches (150 mm) square, representing actual product, color, and patterns.

** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Delete selection samples if colors have already been selected.

E. Selection Samples: For each finish product specified, two complete sets of color chips representing manufacturer's full range of available colors, patterns and opening sizes.

F. Verification Samples: For each finish product specified, two samples, representing actual products.

1. Curtain: 12 by 12 inch (300 mm by 300 mm) sample patch of actual fabric material selected with representative acoustical channel fabrication, hem stitch detail, mesh heading with reinforcement, and carrier attachment to curtain header.

2. Curtain Track and Anchors: Approximately 6 inch (150 mm) long samples illustrating finish.

G. Manufacturer's Certificates: Certify products meet or exceed specified requirements.

H. Closeout Submittals: Provide manufacturer's maintenance instructions that include recommendations for care and cleaning of components.

1.6 QUALITY ASSURANCE

A. Manufacturer Qualifications: Company specializing in work of this Section with minimum 5 years documented experience.

B. Installer Qualifications: Company specializing in work of this Section with minimum 3 years documented experience.

C. Mock-Up: Provide a mock-up for evaluation installation techniques and workmanship.

1. Finish areas designated by Architect.

2. Do not proceed with remaining work until workmanship and color are approved by Architect.

3. Refinish mock-up area as required to produce acceptable work.

4. Accepted mock-ups shall be remain in place and act as the comparison standard for remaining Work.

D. Flammability: Curtains shall pass NFPA 701 - Standard Methods of Fire Tests for Flame Propagation of Textiles and Films

1.7 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING

A. Store and handle in strict compliance with manufacturer's instructions and recommendations

B. Deliver materials and products in undamaged and unopened factory labeled packages.

C. Store products in manufacturer's unopened packaging with labels intact until ready for installation.

1.8 SEQUENCING

A. Ensure that products of this section are supplied to affected trades in time to prevent interruption of construction progress.

1.9 PROJECT CONDITIONS

A. Maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and ventilation) within limits recommended by manufacturer for optimum results. Do not install products under environmental conditions outside manufacturer's absolute limits.

1.10 WARRANTY

A. Provide the manufacturer's 25 year limited warranty for mounting hardware, headbox, clutch, fascia, shade fabric, valance, curtain grommets, curtain and curtain track.

B. Provide the manufacturer's 5 year limited warranty for controls, electronic accessories and motors.

PART 2 PRODUCTS

2.1 MANUFACTURERS

2.2 CURTAIN TRACK

A. Commercial Aluminum Curtain Track: Heavy duty straight or curved cubicle curtain and track system with double wheel and hook carriers as manufactured by American Track & Supply with the following characteristics:

1. Track:

a. Extruded aluminum.

b. Dimensions: 3/4 inches high (19 mm) by 3/4 (19 mm) inch wide.

2. Carriers: Provide 4 carriers per lineal foot.

3. Mounting: Provide for mounting as indicated on the Drawings.

a. Ceiling: Hardware and tracks are made to install directly into a drop ceiling grid ceiling, drywall or wood blocking. All hardware is pre-drilled and all necessary hardware is strung and included for an easy install.

b. Wall: Hardware and tracks are made to install wall mounted to provided brackets. All hardware is pre-drilled and all necessary hardware is strung and included for an easy install.

4. Mount Type: Provide straight and bent sections as indicated on Drawings as required for the following mount(s).

a. Curtain Style 1: Straight

b. Curtain Style 2: L

c. Curtain Style 3: L

d. Curtain Style 4: U

e. Curtain Style 5: 45 degree

f. Curtain Style 6: 45 degree

g. Curtain Style 7: Oval

5. Track Accessories: Provide with splices, connectors, hangers, anchors and mounting plates as required

B. Commercial Flexible Curtain Track: Flexible bendable cubicle curtain and track system with double wheel and hook carriers as manufactured by American Track & Supply with the following characteristics:

1. Track:

a. Material: PVC resin with metal plate embedded within the track.

b. Dimensions: 7/8 inches (22 mm) high by 7/16 inches (11 mm) wide.

2. Carriers: Provide 4 carriers per lineal foot.

3. Mounting: Provide for mounting as indicated on the Drawings.

a. Ceiling: Hardware and tracks are made to install directly into a drop ceiling grid ceiling, drywall or wood blocking. All hardware is pre-drilled and all necessary hardware is strung and included for an easy install.

b. Wall: Hardware and tracks are made to install wall mounted to provided brackets. All hardware is pre-drilled and all necessary hardware is strung and included for an easy install.

2.3 BLACKOUT CURTAINS AND TRACKS

A. Blackout Curtains:

1. General: Curtains shall be custom made to fit the openings indicated on the Drawings.

a. Curtains have stainless steel grommets spaced 6 inches apart.

b. Side seams and bottom seams are 1 inch double, with center seams also double sewn.

c. Blackout Curtains are made 15 percent wider than the track size to allow for fullness.

**NOTE TO SPECIFIER** Select one of the two following paragraphs as required for the project and delete the one not required.

d. Curtains cut to be about 2 inches too long to block any light from entering along the bottom edge.

e. Curtains cut to "Kiss the Floor".

2. Material: Curtains are commercial grade 100 percent blackout fire retardant material and passes the NFPA 701 Small Scale Fire Test.

3. Valance: Curtains provided with a 12 inch valence.

4. Color:

2.4 CUBICAL CURTAINS

A. Custom Cube Cubicle Curtains:

1. Curtains to be custom made from flame-retardant, hospital quality material.

2. Curtains have stainless steel grommets spaced 6 inches apart.

3. Mesh to have a nylon header to receive grommets and rolled side hems.

4. Mesh height to be specified by site health code.

5. Side seams and bottom seams are 1 inch double, with center seams also double sewn.

6. Curtains are made 15 percent wider than the track size to allow for fullness.

7. Bottom Hem to be 12 inches (305 mm) Above Finished Floor.

8. Fabric:

c. Mesh Cubicle Curtain Fabric: Flameproof nylon mesh shall have 1/2 inch spacing as per NFPA requirements. Color as follows:

1) White

2) Off White

B. Custom Cubicle Curtain with Interloc Snap System:

1. Curtain Top: Mesh header, Mesh to have a nylon header to receive grommets and rolled side hems. Mesh height to be specified by site health code.

2. Overlap seams and double-lock stitch to body of curtain.

3. Body of curtain to be removable from mesh header.

4. Snap system to be sewn to body and mesh of curtain using a double needle interlocked stitch.

5. Width: Track size divided by 66 inches.

6. As an interchangeable panel system, 66 inch panels, to be hung in conjunction with one another to fit required track lengths plus 1 panel.

a. Panel system units to use 8 inch (203 mm) overlap when mating panels to one another (side hem snaps are not to be used).

b. Additional top hem snaps to be located on front side of curtain as necessary to mate 8 inch (203 mm) overlap. Snaps to not exceed overlap.

7. Length: Bottom Hem to be 12 inches (305 mm) Above Finished Floor.

8. Bottom and Side Hems: Not less than 1 inch (25 mm) wide, reinforced, triple thickness and single stitched.

9. Seams: Not less than 1/2 inch (13 mm) wide, double turned and double stitched.

10. Fabric:

11. Antimicrobial Pull Strips:

1) Standard antimicrobial fabric sleeve to snap into lead panel .

2) Easily taken off to help with disease control and cleanup of fluids.

C. CustomCube Shower Curtains:

1. Curtains to be custom made from flame-retardant, hospital quality material.

a. Curtains have stainless steel grommets spaced 6 inches (152 mm) apart.

b. Side seams and bottom seams are 1 inch (26 mm) double, with center seams also double sewn.

c. Curtains are made 15 percent wider than the track size to allow for fullness.

d. Curtain tiebacks at each termination.

2. Fabric:

3. Antimicrobial Interlock Snap System: Allows panels to be placed at a height that is easily reached without the need for a ladder or other equipment.

a. Antimicrobial mesh with snaps that receive panels of fabric that create the custom size curtain width.

4. Antimicrobial Pull Strips:

a. Standard antimicrobial treatment applied to the selected cubicle curtain fabric

b. Nanotex + BioAM spill and stain resistant treatment combined with an antimicrobial agent for protection of fabrics within healthcare settings.

2.5 FABRlCATlON

A. Vertical Curtain Seams: Shall be double needle interlocked.

B. Label: Sewn into the top hem of each curtain to identify the width of curtain.

C. Mesh Tops: Mesh is to be completely bound with same fabric as the body of the curtain. Mesh to be 19 inches high at top of curtains.

D. Length: Curtains to finish floor.

E. Panel Size:

PART 3 EXECUTION

3.1 EXAMINATION

A. Do not begin installation until substrates have been properly prepared.

B. Verify that ceiling support system is ready to receive work of this Section.

C. Verify dimensions prior to fabrication with field measurements.

D. If substrate preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect of unsatisfactory preparation before proceeding.

3.2 PREPARATION

A. Clean surfaces thoroughly prior to installation.

B. Prepare surfaces using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving the best result for the substrate under the project conditions.

3.3 INSTALLATION

A. Install in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.

B. Installation of Cubicle Curtains and Tracks: Install in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations, including the following:

1. Verify that ceilings are suitable for installation prior to installation.

2. Mechanically attach tracks using manufacturer's recommended anchors and attachment devices.

3. Install accessories and curtains and test for proper operation. Replace damaged units.

3.4 PROTECTION

A. Protect installed products until completion of project.

B. Touch-up, repair or replace damaged products before Substantial Completion.

3.5 SCHEDULES
