Upgrade the software encryption for Stand-alone license—Flexnet
To upgrade the flexnet stand-alone license, the first step is to return the GstarCAD 2011 license,and the second step is to use the same 2011 serial number to generate a new xml file on GstarCAD 2012, and activate it. Below is the instruction for return and reactivate.
Open the GstarCAD license manager from the Program.
Choose the license you want to return and then click the button More
With the More window, click button Generate and you are request to choose a save path.
Save the xxxxx-return.xml file and sent to your distributor (you could send it together with the new created xml file, see the instruction below).
After you get the xxxxx-resp-return.xml from your dealer, click the button Browse to find the return file and then click the button Process.
Open the license manager again, and you will find the license information has been cleared.
Start the GstarCAD2012 after you installed it. And the activation window opens, select the Software-encryption (Flexnet). Click button Next
Then the second activation window opens, please copy your old serial number you’ve got from your dealer for your GstarCAD2011 to the blank area.
If you now click on the button Generate, a new xml file is created and you were asked for a saving place.
Now you will get the information that you should go on like it is described in step 2.
That means: please send the new created xml file in an e-mail attachment to your dealer. (You could sent the xxxxx-return.xml together with the new created file)
After around 1-3 working days you´ll get the xxxxx-resp-act.xml file from your dealer.
After getting the xxxxx-resp-act.xml file please save it in your local folder.
Open the activation widow and click the button Browse to input the xxxxx-resp-act.xml from the folder, and then click button Activate to activate the GstarCAD 2012.
Upgrade the hardware encryption for Stand-alone license—Dongle
Please put your old dongle in your computer.
Start GstarCAD2012 after you installed it, and the activation window opens
Please select the first box Hardware-encryption, and click the button Next.
The upgrade window appears. Copy the product number and sent to your dealer.
Within 1-3 working days you will get a serial number and an activation code.
Copy them accordingly to the upgrade window and click upgrade. (Note: please operate this under the administrator limit if win7/vista system and lower the User Account Control to the lowest, GstarCAD must be allowed to write a file into the installation path during the upgrade)
Upgrade the software encryption for network license—Flexnet
In order to upgrade to GstarCAD 2012 network license, the first step is to return the license and clear the records on the license manager(server). And then generate a new xml file and activate it. Please note all the operation need to be handled by the administrator.
Open the LMTools and click the button Stop Server
Install the GstarLMS2012.exe on the server(Cover the same path as the LMTools 2011)

After the installation, click the License Manager (server) from Program-GstarCAD Network License manager to open the license manager (server).
Click the button Return/Repair
Click the Generate to return the license and you are request to give a path to save the return file. Send the xxxxx-return.xml file to your dealer. (You could sent it together with the new generated xml file)
And within 1-3working days, you will get an xxxxx-resp-svr-return.xml file from your dealer. Save the file at your local folder.
Open the license Manager(server)again, click the button Browse to find the return file and click the button Open.
Click the button Process.
Open the GstarCAD License Manager (server), you will find the license has been cleared. (Note: the license record must be cleared before activating the new 2012 license)
Click the button Activation of the GstarCAD License Manager (Server)
Put in your old serial number you’ve got from your dealer for your GstarCAD 2011. Input the node number you want to have and click on the button generate to create a new xml file and you were asked for a saving place.
Now you will get the information that you should go on like it is described in step 2.
That means: please send the new created xml file in an e-mail attachment to your dealer (you could send it together with the xxxxx-return.xml file)
And within 1-3 working days you´ll get an xml file with the ending xxxxx-resp-svr-act.xml from your dealer.
After getting the xml file please save it in the local folder
Make sure the previous license information with the same serial number have been cleared in the License Manager (server), click the button Browse to find the xml file ending with xxxxx-resp-svr-act.xml and then click the button Activate. A popup window will shows the activation have been successfully submitted.
Start the LMTools from the Program-GstarCAD Network License manager.
Click the Tab Start/Stop/Reread, and click the button Start Server
Please make sure all the information on the tab Service/License File is configured same as the GstarCAD 2011 license:
Upgrade the hardware encryption for network license—Dongle
The dongle upgrade is same as write a new network dongle
The driver for the network dongle must be have downloaded and installed on the server.

1) plug in the dongle you have in the computer which has been taken as the server
2) Run "FieldExUtil.exe ".

3) Click "Get Locking Code", the code will be shown.
4) Click "Save Locking Code" to a file, a .LOC file will be saved.
5) Send the .LOC file to your dealer and tell them which version and how many nodes need to be written into the dongle.
6) Within 1-3 working days, the dealer will send back a .LIC file, please click "Load license code from a file" to load the .LIC file, then click Update License.
7) Use the read-dongle tool to check the licenses in the upgraded dongle
