BIRD’S GALLERY is proud to introduce a new exhibition program for unrepresented artists & curators to have an opportunity to exhibit in a professional gallery environment.
We welcome artists, curators and collectives practicing in all mediums to submit a proposal for exhibiting in our 2018program.
The front gallery space with large shop front windows is available for application in a heritage proposed Kew Junction area with many cafes & eateries around, and only 10 minutes away from CBD by car or 20 min by tram.
Support and services include:
-Curatorial advice
-Provide professional staffing for the gallery for the duration of the exhibition
-Provide staffing, drinks and glassware for the opening night of the exhibition (snacks are not included)
-Vinyl signage for street-window promotion
-Line advertising and listing in art publications
-Publicity through on-line social-media platforms
-Promotion through our extensive Bird’s Gallery client mailing list
-Designing of exhibition flyers
Artist’s responsibility:
- Printing exhibition flyers
-Emailing & posting of exhibition invitations to artist’s mailing list
-Providing good quality professional JPEG images of current artworks for the website and other social networks
-Providing an Artist statement for the exhibition and updated CV and short Bio
-Installation & removal of the exhibition with the help of Bird’s Gallery staff
-Snacks & nibbles for the Opening Night (optional)
Costs:
Front gallery $2900 inc GST per 4 week exhibition
Front gallery $1950 inc GST per 2 week exhibition
The gallery would take 35% commission from any sale made during the exhibition and a following month.
Proposal Checklist
-Maximum 1 A4 page proposal for exhibition outline including materials, scale, conceptual basis & research

Exhibition costs incurred by the artist
Gallery rental is charged at $1950 Inc GST per 2 weeks or $2900 Inc GST per month.
The artist agrees to pay this amount in full when invoiced at the end of the exhibition.
The artist agrees to pay for any advertising undertaken in addition to the standard gallery listing in Art Almanac, and for additional time worked by Bird’s Gallery graphic artist.
$550 Security deposit
A $450 deposit is required to secure your exhibition; this amount is to be paid in full upon your exhibition proposal being accepted. The gallery will not be considered to be booked by you until this deposit has been received in full.
This deposit may be split between artists for group exhibitions.
$550 will be deducted from the gallery hire costs when the final invoice for the exhibition is issued.
If for any reason you are unable to proceed with the exhibition, you will forfeit this deposit.
Bird’s Gallery reserve the right to cancel a booked exhibition without notice in which case the deposit will be returned in full.
Agreement to Artist’s responsibility:
-Printing exhibition flyers
-Emailing & posting of exhibition invites to artist’s mailing list
-Providing good quality professional JPEG images of current artworks (with titles, sizes & mediums provided)
-Providing an Artist statement for the exhibition and updated CV and short Bio
-Providing the list of exhibition works with titles, sizes and media as a Word document
-Snacks & nibbles for the Opening Night (optional)
-Installation & removal of the exhibition with the help of Bird’s Gallery staff
-The gallery is to be returned to its original state at the end of the exhibition.
-The artist is responsible for any damages to the furniture or fixtures of the gallery during period of hire.
-Payment of the security deposit within a week after receiving Birds Gallery Invoice
Payment of sales to the artist
Bird’s Gallery charges a 35% commission on all sales and will deduct this amount from the monies owed to the artist at the end of the exhibition.
