Biography Book Report

1. Write the title of the book on the first line and underline it. Capitalize the first and all important words in the title.

2. Write the author’s name under the title. Remember to capitalize the first and last name.

3. Write the number of pages in the book on the next line. Remember, the book must be at least 100 pages and one that you haven’t read before fifth grade.

4. List the important details of this person’s life in chronological order. That means the order in which they happened. List each event or detail in a separate sentence. You should have listed 20 facts. Number them on the left side of your paper. Don’t write in paragraphs like a story. Make a list.

5. Remember, the person you are reporting on is a SECRET. You will read to the class the facts you listed one at a time, and we will try to guess who the person is. SO don’t mention his or her name in your facts. Use the pronoun HE or SHE. At the end, write the person’s name on your report.

6. Here are some examples of important facts that you should mention:

 When he was born

 Where he was born

 The names of his parents

 How many brothers or sisters he had and their names (if the book tells this)

 Facts about his childhood – what he liked to do, what happened to him

 Schooling

 Things he is famous for – inventions, discoveries, books written, adventures,

accomplishments, time as president or leader

 When he died (if he died)

7. Lastly, take the time to proofread your report for correct spelling, complete sentences, capitalization, and punctuation. Write the report in neat handwriting. The whole report will probably be more than one page. Don’t worry if you have slightly less than or more than 20 facts.
