The Situation. Teachers are expected to keep up with the subjects they teach. In Elementary Education, a teacher is expected to work with students in a variety of subjects. These subject areas are generally the same as the disciplines covered in the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards. These organizations provide good resources for use in the classroom. In many districts some subjects are taught by specialists. These include art, music, health and physical education.
