Bilingual Case Manager Position

St. Francis Community Services has an immediate opening for a full time Bilingual (Spanish) Case Manager. The Bilingual Case Manager is primarily responsible for engaging with and providing culturally competent case management services in a fast paced service setting to the immigrant and refugee population, with a special focus on the Latino immigrant population. Job responsibilities include helping Spanish-speaking clients navigate challenging systems, making appropriate referrals, one-on-one budget counseling, and implementing a matched savings program.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide intensive case management to teach clients to navigate challenging systems. The case management process may include home visits and will include making and documenting referrals and/or linkages to financial, employment, medical, crisis management, and other services. The case manager will use the linkage process to teach the client how to attempt to access various resources and referrals without future case manager assistance.
  • Identify and refer clients who are appropriate candidates for in-house legal services, financial management assistance, and direct financial aid based on need.
  • Implement one-on-one financial counseling and follow-up sessions.
  • Conduct outreach for financial literacy among Latino immigrant community members.
  • Work with clients to set personalized long-term financial goals and a plan for achieving these goals.
  • Establish and administer an agency-matched savings account initiative, providing instruction about how to open an account and deposit money, in addition to determining the savings goal.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (or foreign equivalent) from an accredited school or college, preferably in the fields of social work or human services.
  • Bilingual (oral and written) Spanish required.
  • A minimum of 2 years direct experience in social services or legal setting providing intake, case coordination and support services to individuals and/or families.
  • Experience with immigrant and refugee population, particularly in an urban setting. Experience should include provision of services to the Latino community.
  • Computer skills including Office, word processing, and database entry.
