-Read the text book pagesINTERNET 2 ~ 17, and follow every step.

-Create a folder namedLab2in the J:\\CSE1301 folder

Now, follow the steps below to learn how to capture the contents of the active window.

Tip 1: How to use Print Screen key

  1. Use the “Ctrl-Alt-Print Screen” keys to make a copy of the current active window:
  2. Press Ctrl, Alt and Print Screen keys together.
  3. Then start the Paint program to view what you have just copied
  4. (Start button → Programs → Accessories → Paint)
  5. Next, click Edit on the menu bar, then click Paste.
  6. Then click File on the menu bar, then click Save.
  7. To Save your image file, choose an appropriate name and save it.(NOTE: In this lab you will be asked to save your files with JPEG file type.)

Once you have completed the steps above, you are ready to complete the LAB2 assignment.

You are not required to download any data files to complete this lab.

IMPORTANT: Before you leave the lab, show your work to the lab instructor.

  1. Imagine that you are going to takeyour dream vacation (choose a location), and want to check the weather there.
  2. Go to a weather website, and check on the weather where you’ll be going.
  3. Make a snapshot of the weather forecast for tomorrow by using “Print Screen” and the Paint program (see Tip 1 above).
  4. Save the snapshot image in your J:\\CSE1301\LAB2 folder as “weather.jpg”.

  1. You have not booked a hotel yet, so you will need to do that:
  2. Go to any travel deal site, and check on the availability of a room at hotel of your choice.
  3. Then make a snapshot of your favorite hotel deal by using the “Print Screen” key and the Paint program.
  4. Save the snapshot image in your J:\\CSE1301\LAB2 folder as “hotel.jpg”.

  1. Now, you need to buy a new MP3 player to use on the long flight. You decide that using the Web is more expedient than visiting various stores. Your budget is $100.

  3. Make a snapshot of the best deal by using the “Print Screen” key and the Paint program.
  4. Save the snapshot image in your J:\\CSE1301\LAB2 folder as “mp3-player.jpg

  2. Find the driving directions and total estimated time to get from the UTA campus to the intersection of Louisiana Street & Dallas Street in downtown Houston.

  4. Save the snapshot image in your J:\\CSE1301\LAB2 folder as “directions.jpg
