Agenda item 1 / Review of SAC District Meeting Notes by Angela Brucker:
  • Social Media (presented by G. Turchetta) presented on various social media platforms and their uses
  • Break out into small groups-worked on ways in which to ensure the “transparency” of SAC meetings, effective documentation, possible audits fourth coming
  • Diana Little shared with the group where SAC documents, minutes, etc. may be found on our school website

agenda item 2 / Review of 2nd Quarter Benchmark results:
  • Data Dialogue protocol displayed and explained my Reka Monoki

agenda item 3 / Monthly Parent Breakfast:
  • Diana Little shared the 5th grade parent breakfast took place on Friday, January 15th with a 16 parent turnout. Mrs. Schmitt addressed parents with regards to a number of topics including expectations and requirements for transition to Middle School
  • The following Parent Breakfast dates/topics were outlined: February 12th (Test Anxiety presented by Pam Green for parents of 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders), March 4th (Testing process for ESE/Gifted including 504’s presented by Tina Clawson), April 22nd (SSYRA top readers on all grade levels will be recognized with their parents, presented by Mrs. Hess), Math 13th ( Summer Reading lists/strategies presented by Mrs. Charles)

agenda item 4 / Budget Review:
  • Reviewed current budget by Ashley Ellis and updated the $120 will not be used for Spirit Sticks
  • Discussion took place with a proposal to purchase a reward for our Kids On the Go participants-although a vote was taken for possible purchase, SAC needs to look for ideas that are not considered apparel
  • 2016-2017 SAC Budget unknown

agenda item 5 / Literacy Week/Young Author’s/Literacy Night/Vocabulary Parade/Book Fair:
  • Ashley Ellis discussed Literacy week celebrated January 25th-29th with daily events including Young Author’s sharing writing on the morning news, Million Minute Marathon, Young Author’s Grade Level buddy share, tweeting of quotes, Throwback Thursday (re-reading aging Young Author’s books in Media Center), Read-a-thon
  • Literacy Night-Tuesday, January 26th (5:30-7:00) Super Hero themed event tilled with games, prizes, book swaps, Book Fair, pizza and more…
  • Vocabulary Parade-Friday January 29th- dress up as a “word” all grade levels showcase their vocabulary during the campus parade (9:30 start time)

  • New STAR Lab attraction will be featured
  • Grade level teams to construct students friendly experiments/events
