BIENVENUE À LA CLASSE DE FRANÇAIS DE MADAME BARCA

I am looking forward to a very successful school year where we can meet our goals of communicating in the French language as well as learning about the cultures of the francophone world. In order to achieve these goals there are certain rules that must be followed.

  1. Be respectful of all members of this class. Rudeness, bullying and harassment will not be tolerated.
  2. Arrive to class on time and be prepared to participate in all class activities.
  3. Bring your text book(s), homework and a writing utensil. Please do not use red ink for tests or quizzes. You will be marked as unprepared for class if you do not have your books and homework.
  4. Absolutely no food or drink in the classroom.
  5. Raise your hand and be acknowledged before speaking. No calling out, please.
  6. Follow all rules as outlined in student handbook.
  7. Electronic devices such as cell phones and IPods are not to be used in my classroom. I will confiscate them and hold onto them till the end of the period.

Helpful hints for academic success

  1. Review material taught in class on a regular basis.
  2. Ask questions if you do not understand.
  3. See me for extra help when needed.
  4. Study for all tests and quizzes.
  5. Complete all assignments on time. Do not wait until the last minute to complete assignments. You never know when you will run into an obstacle such as a printer that does not work or a misplaced assignment! Points will be deducted for late assignments.
  6. Homework assignments can be handed in within 48 hours for half credit.
  7. Avoid using a translator for help in looking up words. You should never use the translator to look up anything more than one word, not fragments or complete sentences. An assignment may not be given credit if I feel too much assistance was given by the translator or another individual. I want to see how well you can write in French! It is always best to use a dictionary.
  8. When you are absent, you are responsible to either email me or find me the next day you are in school to get the work you missed. I am free all of block 3 and will either be in 1406, the library or room 1205.
