0103 – Immediately following the swearing in of City and County officials, this photo was taken of the Senator Henry S. Lane home. Citizens of Montgomery County refer to this home and grounds as “The Lane Place.” The home and pavilion are still decorated for the Christmas holiday. 0203 – Gasoline filing stations in Indiana are required by law to advertise their price per gallon of gasoline. This image documents a rare occurrence on February 11, 2016 when local prices for a gallon of gasoline fell below two dollars per gallon. Two years before this, gasoline was selling over four dollars per gallon. This low price has not been seen in Montgomery County for many years. 0612 – 0618 – The Strawberry Festival is an annual three day event that takes place on the grounds of the Lane Place, 212 S Water St, Crawfordsville, IN 47933. It is one of the largest tourist drawing events in Montgomery County each year. Booth space is rented to tent covered arts and crafts merchants and food vendors. Live performances draw large crowds. Sporting events, running races, antique auto and tractor displays line many of the streets in Crawfordsville each year. Photos by Kenn Clark and Tim McCormick.

0711–The Montgomery County Civic Band is an all-volunteer concert band that performs every other Sunday at the Pavilion on the grounds of the Lane Place. Director, Gary Ketchum, greets the concert attendees prior to the performance. Photo by Meagan McCormick.

0712–Montgomery was home to many concert bands dating back to after the Civil War. The Montgomery County Civic Band was formed in 1964 by director Phil Wright. Directors of this organization include Barb Wilson, Malinda Zenor, Cindy McCormick and Gary Ketchum. 0901 –Crawfordsville has a long tradition of a “Farmers Market” where local produce and arts and crafts can be purchased by the public on Saturday mornings. In recent years, the Farmer’s Market is held on Pike Street between Washington Street and Walnut Ave. The following images were taken on September 26, 2016 during the Farmers Market Harvest Hoopla, a special event that includes booths from various organizations in our community. 1001 –The State of Indiana’s Bicentennial celebration encouraged local communities to decorate Bison statuary. It was known as Bisontennial. Photo by Kathy Steele.

1003 – 1005 – On October 13th, 2016, The Indiana traveling Bicentennial Torch came to Montgomery County. The torch was relayed from designated citizen to citizen along a route throughout Montgomery County. The celebration began at the South steps of the Montgomery County Court house and was attended by local citizens and all of the 4th grade classes in Montgomery County’s three school corporations: South Montgomery Community School Corporation, Crawfordsville Community School Corporation and North Montgomery Community School Corporation. Speakers and performance groups educated and entertained those in attendance. After the Court House celebration, City of Crawfordsville’s Mayor, Todd Barton, began the torch relay by lighting his torch from the perpetual flame and then began the relay from on top of a city’s fire truck. 1024 –1029 – The 2016 Grand National Cross Country Race Series or GNCC Round 13 - AMSOIL (Lubrication manufacturer sponsoring the race) Ironman, Saturday, October 29, 2016 at Ironman Raceway, 1389 W 200 S, Crawfordsville, IN. The 13-round GNCC series takes place in eight different states through the eastern half of the United States, making stops at many of the series’ traditional favorites, while adding Crawfordsville as an all-new venue to the schedule.
