Bibliography Cards, Note Cards, and Plagiarism

Create bibliography cards to keep track of your sources. Each source should have a bibliography card.

Below are some common bibliography entries. Because there are so many variations to these sources (book by more than one author, print scholarly journal, etc.), you MUST verify all citations by looking in your MLA Handbook. Brief examples are provided for you below. More extensive instructions and examples are, once again, available in your MLA Handbook (index on pg. 123-125).

Plagiarism

HOW TO AVOID PLAGIARISM

  • Plagiarism:Required secondary education has been a key aspect of American living that sets us apart from many other countries.
  • Paraphrase:The United States, unlike some other countries, requires all students to attend some high school.
