2.  If you are consistently tardy, I WILL CALL HOME

3.  If you are missing enough assignments to fail, I WILL CALL HOME

4.  If you are receiving a grade below a C, I will DEFINITELY call home

5.  Unjustified defiant behavior or infractions of any/all class expectations will result in a CALL HOME and/or PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCE

ACADEMIC DISHONESTY

If you are caught cheating (copying/duplicating classwork, homework, notes, essays, quizzes/tests or letting others do so), you will receive a 0 without the opportunity to make up the work as well as the disciplinary steps outlined above.

EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

Always learn to balance schoolwork with other extra-curricular activities. Make the right choices for you career path by pursuing both academic excellence and extra-curricular options.

LATE WORK, MAKE-UP EXAMS & RETAKES

Late work, make-up exams and retake exams will only be accepted for full credit when accompanied by a Late Assignment/Retake Form signed by a parent/guardian. Make-up and retake assignments/quizzes/tests can be harder and you may forfeit benefits given to students who take the exam on time. Students will be given a grace period until the Friday of the week’s end to submit work for full credit. This does not mean that late work is encouraged, it just acknowledges that there may be extenuating circumstances beyond a student’s control. All other late assignments will be taken for half credit.

ABSENCES

If you are absent, you must bring a valid note and excuse the absence to make up work. It is YOUR responsibility to ask for make-up work once you return. If you were absent the day an assignment was due, it will still be considered late unless you submit a Late Assignment/Retake Form. More than 3 absences or tardies equals a U on your report card.

CLASS PARTICIPATION

Students will be expected to participate actively in class discussions, group projects and all assignments. Failure to participate will result in a lowered grade (15%). Students’ highest level of participation will set the bar for the class. Excessive tardies or absences will count against you.

PROCRASTINATION

Procrastination is your worst enemy. Do NOT wait until the Sunday before the exam to study and take notes. You WILL NOT REMEMBER anything once you are done with the chapter.

PROGRESS REPORTS

You will be receiving a written progress report once every 2 weeks. You must keep all progress reports in your Final Portfolio. Unsatisfactory grades must be given to parents.

GRADING ASSIGNMENTS

You will be assigned daily classwork and homework assignments. Most, if not all, assignments will be graded. Complete ALL assignments within the given time frame. Students will have the opportunity to retake quizzes and exams, only if accompanied by a Late Assignment/Retake Form. Successful completion of summative assessments may replace poor formative assessment grades at the teacher’s discretion.

MANDATORY TUTORING

The teacher will start to assign mandatory tutoring for students either receiving a grade below a C after the first 5-week progress report. Until the student’s grade becomes satisfactory (C or above) and missing assignments are turned in, he/she will be required to come before school, during nutrition or lunch until satisfactory progress is made.
