REFORMATION CELEBRATION – Be sure to attend a special worship service in celebration of the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation at both Sunday services on October 29th. We’ll have special music, the choir and a message on how the Reformation set the Gospel free! Bring a friend to this special event.

USHER TRAINING SESSION: Our group of usher volunteers is growing and to help those new to the job and also to refresh those already involved, Dennis Lee will conduct a training session and will cover all usher duties relating to service procedures, safety and security. The session will be held Sunday, October 29th between services beginning at 9:30 am and shouldn't take more than 20 minutes or so of your time.

WITH SYMPATHY: We express our deepest sympathy to those who mourn the loss of Emily Tacony, who was called to her eternal rest on Thursday October 19, 2017. Visitation will be at St. Lucas on Monday October 23, 9-10 a.m., service starting at 10:00 a.m. We commit those who mourn into God’s keeping. May the promise of life in Christstrengthen and comfort them.

A NEW MEMBER CLASS will begin November 5, meeting on Sunday mornings at 9:15a.m. This class, on the basics of the Christian faith, uses video and online resources to convey how God's love connects to us through Jesus Christ. It is a membership class for those wishing to join St. Lucas, but also a great review of the faith for members as well. Invite someone and come along with them!

ALL SAINTS DAY COMMEMORATION:We will be commemorating those who have gone before us to heaven during our worship on the first Sunday in November. As in past years, we will be glad to print the names of those who have departed in the faith in an insert in the bulletin. Please submit those whom you would like to be remember in this way to the church office by October 30th.Due to the great number of those normally remembered, the Lay Ministry Board has decided that, while all will be included in print, only the names of members of St. Lucas and other loved ones who have passed away since last All Saints Day will be read aloud. We hope you understand the need for this change.

SUNDAY SCHOOL MISSION PROJECT: Bibles for Kids!Five hundred years ago, Martin Luther helped free the Bible. One of the keys of the Reformation was making God's Holy Word available to everyone in their own language. Because making Scripture available to every person was such a big deal, Martin Luther personally translated the Bible into German to get things rolling. And today the Bible is still being translated into every possible language and dialect so that everyone can hear the Good News and believe.

Kids need the Bible too! So, the St. Lucas Sunday School is collecting money for the Lutheran Heritage Foundation to help fund the distribution of Bibles to children around the world. If you want to support Bibles for Kids, please see one of the Sunday School teachers or give Barb Morrison a call at 314-351-1491.
