“Beyond Diversity” - Cultural Competency 2 Part Training Series

Beyond Diversity offers cultural competency designed to equip front-line workers with the awareness, knowledge and skill to engage confidently and effectively across cultures.

Session 1 will cover:

Cultural Awareness. What is culture? And how does it influence everyday interactions? Cultural awareness involves examining values and beliefs, to understand how our assumptions, judgements and bias can impact cross-cultural communication and engagement.

Cultural Knowledge. A customised module that delivers useful information about the worldview and experience of different cultures in your local area. To celebrate 2017 Refugee Week, this module will provide insight into the refugee experience and include strategies to improve professional practice and support refugees in the local area.

Session 2 will be run in July 2017, date to be confirmed, and will combine Session 1’s Awareness & Knowledge to build a practical cross-cultural skill-set to take back to your work and every-day life.

Presented by: Beyond Diversity - an initiative of the Community Migrant Resource Centre (CMRC). Training is based on the CMRC’s insights and expertise from 20+ years of effective engagement with newly arrived migrant and refugee communities.
