Expression of Interest: Deputy Principal 2018 (with a possible extension for Semester 1,2019)

This is an additional deputy principal position funded through the school’s flexible funding in 2018. Base salary is $134717.

Beverly Hills Girls High School is a comprehensive high school of 1020 female students (Years 7 - 12). A co-educational Intensive English Centre of 160 studentsis located on-site with some use of shared facilities. The school is a vibrant, dynamic and inclusive learning community that sets high expectations for student achievement andwellbeing and for the professional growth and performance of staff. In excess of 90% of students are of a language background other than English. The school was previously aCentre for Excellence on Improving Teacher Quality (2011 - 2013) and is currently a Hub School for UNSW in the Teacher Education Professional Experience Program. The 2018 – 2020 School Plan will embed and extend initiatives of the current plan in future focused learning and teaching. The school boasts recently completed outdoor learning facilities and a new administration section. In 2016, the Beverly Hills Trades Skills Centre (Hospitality) was completed and opened for school and community use. Junior curriculum is delivered in a unitised, vertically integrated, semesterised system (UVISS) that allows for breadth of student choice, acceleration and enrichment units of study.

Selection Criteria: In a written application of no more than 3 x A4 pages, clearly address the following criteria:-

  • Evidence of KLA and/or program leadership that has led to improved student learning and engagement and effective performance and development of staff.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively as a member of the school leadership team to enhance a culture of high expectations for staff and student growth at a time of significant educational change.
  • Strategic and insightful leadership that is underpinned by highly developed personal and interpersonal skills to effectively manage issues related to staff, students and the wider school community.
  • Demonstrated capacity to lead staff teams in the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of initiatives, KLA or whole-school, aligned to the School Plan.
  • Highly developed communication and negotiation skills to develop and sustain productive and positive relationships with and between students, staff, parents and the wider community.

Selection Process:

Applications, of no more than 3 x A4 pages addressing the selection criteria, must be emailed to no later than 3pm on Friday 1 December 2017.

The name and contact details of THREE referees must be provided. The first referee must be the applicant’s current school principal or immediate supervisor.

Interviews for the position will be completed by Friday 8 December 2017.
