BERNIE WEST THEATRE USAGE GUIDE

1.  Production Meetings:

a.  Between BPAC personnel and Licensee in which scenic and lighting requirements are reviewed must occur one week prior to plans being sent out to bid.

b.  A review of plans must occur two weeks prior to load in.

c.  Any changes of plans must be presented and approved one week prior to load in.

2.  All materials brought in must adhere to New York Fire Safety Codes and Fire Certification must be presented one day prior to load in.

3.  The execution of the design must comply with the most stringent locally applicable fire, electrical construction, and rigging standards.

4.  The names of all non-Baruch personnel must be submitted to the BPAC to be forwarded along to security in order to gain access to the BPAC.

5.  All non-Baruch personnel must also have a photo id which matches the name given.

6.  If licensee has been provided temporary BPAC id’s please note that the company stage manager or appointed person will be responsible for collecting the id’s at the end of the run and returning them to the BPAC.

7.  If a master key has been provided to the company stage manager or an appointed person, that person will be held as the responsible party while you occupy the spaces, and must return the key at the end of the run.

8.  If the key provided is lost there will be a replacement charge for the key, all duplicate keys and the re-keying of pertinent cylinders.

9.  All doors must be secured at the end of each evening.

10.  Do not assume that if you stop by unannounced that there will be someone here to assist you.

11.  There is no parking available. There are however many parking garages available in the area.

12.  Load-In and Load-Out:

a.  You will need to use the loading dock ramp, located on 22nd street between Lexington Avenue and Third Avenue, on the North side of the street.

b.  The loading area is not open 24hrs a day, 7 days a week. We will need 24 hours notice to arrange for use.

c.  There is a security kiosk at the base of the ramp; a BPAC staff member will meet you there.

d.  There is no freight elevator. The dimensions for the elevator are as follow:

i.  Exterior Door: 4’-0” x 7’0”

ii. Interior: width 6’-0” x depth 4’-6” x height 7’-4”

e.  Security will provide padding for the elevator.

f.  If you are arriving with a truck you will need to tell us so that we can arrange for a parking permit in front of the ramp. You are not permitted to park other than to offload or load items.

13.  Following load in and tech, all road boxes and equipment, must be properly stored in control booth area.

14.  All requests for BPAC owned materials must be approved by the Technical Director or Production Manager.

15.  Any load in of items that require additional power, such as dimmer packs, moving lights and amplifiers, must be cleared and inspected by the House Electrician or Technical Director of the BPAC.

16.  The light board, sound equipment or other items may not be removed from the control booth without the permission and supervision of the Technical Director of the BPAC.

17.  Securing of scenery into the theatre deck is permitted with the use of screws only. The Technical Director or Production Manager must approve any other method of attachment into the deck.

18.  There is no attachment of scenery or equipment to any other surface in the theatre that would require penetration.

19.  Use of soft goods is permitted. Prior notice must be given to the BPAC Technical Director or Production Manager. During strike, soft goods and hardware must be returned and in good working order by Licensee.

20.  The theatre deck is the only surface that may be painted. No textural application is permitted without use of a sub floor. During strike the deck must be restored using (Janovic eggshell latex Black 1077)

21.  Spray painting is not permitted.

22.  All paint must be covered when not in use. Only brushes and equipment used with water based products may be cleaned in the janitorial sink.

23.  The removal of scrap lumber must be done either by the rental of a dumpster (at the cost of the Licensee) or by cutting up the lumber into pieces no larger than 1’-0” square and placed in double garbage bags not to exceed 30lbs. Bags must be brought to the loading dock located on the ground level.

24.  Any cables run through doorways, and/or corridors must be taped securely. All doors must be able to be closed and locked.

25.  Safety cables must be used on all lighting instruments.

26.  Permanent circuits are zip tied to the grid. Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES may licensee cut or break zip ties to the grid.

27.  If changes are made to the lighting or sound rep plot, licensee must restore to rep plot provided by BPAC prior to load in.

28.  Electrical power is a three phase 70 amp service. If use exceeds power capability, the breaker will trip. The building electrician will need to be contacted which will suspend your activity for an undetermined amount of time.

29.  If either during the run or at the end of production, house equipment is damaged it will be the responsibility of the licensee for replacement of equipment at equal or greater value.

30.  BPAC personnel will do a walk through with licensee following load out and prior to departure to approve condition of space.

31.  Charges to licensee will be assessed if contract is not fulfilled.

32.  All appliances must be turned off before leaving the space.

33.  Follow signs posted in designated areas for weekly updates.

34.  No welding of any kind is permitted on site.

35.  The theatre is a shared space we are not responsible for any lost items.

36.  The lobby glass panels must be cleared of all material after every production. Any labels or double stick tape must be removed.

37.  All garbage must be removed from within the theatre to a designated area after every performance.

38.  There is no washer & dryer on premises.

39.  There are no bathrooms or running water within the theatre itself.
