Facility Info: / The pool is 8 lanes by 50 meters. The pool utilizes pedestal-style starting blocks. The pool is 6' deep at the starting blocks and ranges from 14' in the outside lanes to 17' in the middle lanes at the bulkhead. There are two auxiliary pools known as 'patio' pools for warm-up and warm-down. The depth of the patio pool farthest from the competition pool ranges from 4' at the edge nearest the patio doors to 4'6' at the edge nearest the other patio pool. The other patio pool has a variable depth and is normally at 6' for meets. There is seating for 1000 spectators and includes 400 chair-backed seats. The remaining seating is bleacher-style.
The competition course has been certified in accordance with 104.2.2C(4). The copy of such certification is on file with USA Swimming.
Parking is available in various Rutgers lots. Please follow the instructions of the Rutgers Security Staff.

Entries/Entry Deadline: / Entries must be received no later than May 14th, 2016. No entries will be accepted after this date. All entries will be accepted in the order received, regardless of LSC affiliation, as space allows. The host team will close the meet or sessions as they become full.
Berkeley Aquatic Club must adhere to NJ Swimming's four hour per session limit.
All entries must be Hy-Tek or compatible program entries as an attached file to an e-mail.

The meet entry coordinator will respond to e-mail entries within 48 hours. If you do not receive an e-mail response within 48 hours, assume that your email has not been received. It then becomes the e-mailer’s responsibility to make sure that the host club's meet entry coordinator receives the e-mail. If you do not receive an e-mail response, you must contact the entry coordinator by email or phone.
An Entry Summary with a signed NJ Swimming waiver and a check follow each entry. They may be brought to the first session of the meet in which the team is competing but must be received by that time or the host team reserves the right to scratch teams which have not complied.

In accordance with New Jersey Swimming rules, the entry fees for this meet are as follows:
Senior Prelim/Final Events: $ 6.00
Senior 800 and 1500 Events: $11.00
Age Group Individual Events: $ 5.00
Relay Events: $ 9.00
These entry fees are non-refundable, except as otherwise indicated in this document or as directed by NJ Swimming, and are to be submitted prior to the team’s first splash of the meet.
Meet Format Waiver: / The host club has the right to change the format of the meet with the approval of the sanctioning chairman and either the age group or senior chairman. These changes would be made for a more efficient swim meet for the swimmers and the host club. Reasons for these changes include: to allow more swimmers to swim; to conform to facility capacity limits or for facility safety concerns; to condense the meet into smaller time frame.

Meet Requirement
Statement: / In order to be eligible for the NJ Swimming Zone Championship Team or for NJ Swimming Athlete Travel Grants for sectional and national level meets, NJ Swimming policy stipulates certain participation requirements. As a NJ Swimming sanctioned meet, this meet counts toward those participation requirements.
Coaches Eligibility: / All coaches ‘on the deck’ must be registered with USA Swimming and be 2016 coach members of USA Swimming.
Coaches will be required to show coaching card with all current requirements met. Alternatively, a coach may show his/her certification on DeckPass.
Coaches must show coaching card before picking up any meet information or scratch sheets.
Coaches must have coaching card visible at all times while on deck and when entering hospitality area.
Swimmer Eligibility: / All swimmers must be members of USA Swimming or other FINA members to enter and compete in this meet.
All swimmers must be included in a team’s official meet roster in the meet database to be eligible to participate in this swim meet in any event including relays.
Unattached Swimmers.
All transfer swimmer(s) must swim unattached for 120 consecutive days from their last open attached competition. Swimmers must use a New Team Alpha CodeUN as their team affiliation. All unattached swimmers must be listed on the team’s official waiver/verification form.
Age Groups that are offered.
10 & under, 11-12, 13-14 and Open which is open to any swimmer obtaining the open time standards.
Time Standards that will be used.
The Custom time standards are listed at the end of the meet information. Please note that there are faster time standards for the Open 800 and 1500 for the non-New Jersey teams. Times may be converted from Short Course Times.
Individual and Relay Limits:
New Jersey Swimming Policy allows swimmers to enter and compete in 3 individual events and 1 relay per day.
Age at Meet:
Age for this meet is as of the first day of the meet.
USA-S Racing Start Certification Statement / Any swimmer entered in the meet must be certified by a USA Swimming member coach as being proficient in performing a racing start or must start each race from within the water. When unaccompanied by a member coach, it is the responsibility of the swimmer or the swimmer’s legal guardian to ensure compliance with this requirement.
Audio/Visual Recording Statement: / Use of audio or visual recording devices, including a cell phone, is not permitted in changing areas, rest rooms or locker rooms.
USA-S Deck Change Policy Statement: / Changing into or out of swimsuits other than in locker rooms or other designated areas is prohibited.
Meet Format: / Berkeley Aquatic Club's Memorial Day Invitational will be run in accordance with current USA Swimming rules.
All Age Group events will be swum as timed finals. Senior individual events, with the exception of the 800 and 1500, will be a Trials and Finals format with bonus, consolation and championship finals (fastest 24 swimmers from preliminaries) being held in the evening session. The 800 and 1500 are timed finals.
PLEASE NOTE: The order of events in the morning Prelims sessions is different from the order of events in the evening Finals sessions. The order for each session is given at the end of this Meet Information. In the evening the events are swum in event number order. They are not necessarily swum in event number order in the morning.
Meet Schedule: / The building will open at 7:00 each day.
All Athletes, Coaches, Officials and Spectators must enter through the main doors just off of the parking lot.

Warm-Up Procedures: / New Jersey Swimming Warm-up and Safety Guidelines:
Warm-ups will be run under New Jersey Swimming Warm-up and Safety Guidelines
PLEASE NOTE: Swimmers are prohibited from using any “gear” or “equipment” or swimming aids during any warm-up or warm-down without formal approval from the Meet Referee in either the competition pools or the warm-up/warm-down pools.
Warm-ups will include general warm-up lanes, sprint lanes, and pace lanes.
All swimmers are entitled to a fair and comparable warm-up. All teams MUST get the same opportunities for general warm-up lanes, sprint lanes, and pace lanes.
Entry Into Pool:
All swimmers must enter the pool from the starting end of the pool.
Swimmers may not exit on the bulkhead.
All swimmers must enter feet first.
Host Team Monitoring Warm-ups.
New Jersey Swimming officials will monitor warm-ups.
Uniformed and designated meet marshals will also monitor warm-ups.
All general warm-up lanes will swim in a counterclockwise direction.
Warm-up Schedules.
There will be a one-hour open warm-up session with sprint and pace lanes offered in the final 15 minutes of warm-ups. For the Senior and Finals session and one 45 minute warm-up for the age group session.
The secondary warm-up/warm-down pools will only be available for use during the actual Meet Session and will not be available during the scheduled warm-up period.

Check in: / All check-in sheets must be turned into the control room 30 minutes before the start of the session. Swimmers who are present and swimming will have lines through their names. Swimmers who are being scratched will have their names circled with 'SCR' next to the circle. Swimmers scratching some, but not all of their events, will have a line through their name and the event number(s) circled with 'SCR' next to the circle. Please use a simple line, not a scribble, so that the name can still be read. Failure to follow this procedure may result in the swimmer(s) being scratched from the session.
Positive check is required in the Senior 1500’s and 800’s and relays in the control room not more than 30 minutes after the session starts.

Scratching from Finals: / The New Jersey Swimming Scratch Procedure, as specified in the NJ Swimming Policies & Procedures Manual, found at NJSwim.org, including the Scratch rules for Championship Finals, is in effect for this meet.In addition, teams will be assessed $50 for each swimmer who was originally seeded in the top 24in finals and fails to swim on Sunday night without scratching as defined in the scratch procedure..
We will take both scratches and intentions to scratch from Finals but they must be given within 30 minutes of announcing the results of the event in question and intentions must be decided or cleared within 30 minutes of when the swimmer’s last swim of the morning is completed.
Starts: / Fly over or over the top starts will NOT be used. Swimmers should exit the pool at the conclusion of their heat.
Distance Events: / The Senior 800 and 1500 Freestyles are timed final events and will be limited to the fastest 24 entries (3 heats) unless time permits more heats to be swum. The fastest heat of each event will be swim in the finals session. The remaining 2 heats (and any additional heats) will be swum fastest to slowest, alternating heats of women and men, at the end of the preliminary sessions on Saturday and Sunday. There will be positive check-in for both the 800 and 1500 in the Control Room not more than 30 minutes after the start of the session in which the event is being swum..
Swimmers in the 800 and 1500 must provide their own counters. Berkeley Aquatic Club will provide all timers.
The distance events (800 & 1500) time standards are different for teams in and out of the LSC.
All athletes entered into distance events (800m and 1500m) MUST indicate a preference for swimming with preliminaries or with finals. The preliminaries/finals preference must be declared by the electronic distance declaration deadline (the Monday BEFORE the meet at 5:00pm). Psych sheets with these preferences listed will be sent to coaches with swimmers in the events and posted on line by the Thursday before the meet. Preferences and changes will not be accepted after the Monday before the meet. Following positive check ins for the distance on the morning of each respective distance event, the fastest 8 distance swimmers who did not indicate a preference to swim in the morning session will swim during the evening finals. All other athletes checked in for distance events will swim during the morning preliminaries.
Relays / Teams are limited to two (2) relay entries per event. All relays are timed finals. The top 16 seeded relays after positive check-in will be swim at night unless the relays have been checked-in as explained below and specified that the relays will be swum only in the morning. All other heats of relays will be run at the end of the preliminary session prior to the 800 and 1500 Freestyle heats.
There will be positive check-in for relays in the control room in the morning, due not more than 30 minutes after warm up ends. Relays that want to be swum only in the morning session must note that on the positive check-in sheet during the positive check in period. If more than 16 relays will be swum (after scratches) then those relays that want to swim in the morning will be placed in morning heats. If 16 or fewer relays remain after scratches, all relays will be swum at night.
All relays must have the correct four names listed on the relay card in the correct order for that relay to be eligible. Coaches must turn in relay cards no later than 60 minutes prior to the beginning of the event in the session the relay will be swum. All swimmers must be listed in the team's official entry file in order to participate in the meet, including Relay-Only Swimmers. (It is the coach’s responsibility to make sure their Relay-Only swimmers are entered into the Meet by the Meet entry deadline.) The order of swimmers and the names may be changed by notifying the Lane Timer in the relay lane or the Control Room but this must be done before the first swimmer steps on the blocks at the start of the heat. No changes will be made after the Relay is swum.
Heat Limited Events: / The 800 and 1500 are limited to three (3) heats (24 swimmers), unless time permits more heats to be swum. That decision will be made the day of the meet, after scratches. Psych Sheets will be posted on If the Meet Director suspects that the number of heats will be limited, they will contact all clubs with swimmers entered in the distance events by e-mail, not later than the Thursday before the Meet. In the event that Berkeley Aquatic Club limits the number of heats of the distance events and some swimmers who have previously entered are not allowed to swim, entry fees will be refunded at the control room after the distance event is seeded and heat sheets are posted.
Entry Times: / All entry times must meet the attached qualification times. Please note that there are two separate qualification times for the Distance Events; one for members of the New Jersey Swimming LSC and one for everyone else. Times may be converted from short course times but must be entered as meter times.
Scoring: / This meet will not be scored.
Awards: / Medals will be presented to the top 3 finishers in both individual events and Relay Events.
Admission and Programs: / Admission will be $8.00 per morning or afternoon session and $5 for Finals. Programs will not be available but psych sheets, heat sheets and results will be available for free on both Meet Mobile and Live Results.
Host Club Responsibilities: / Berkeley Aquatic Club will provide ALLtimers.
A hospitality room will be maintained for coaches and officials. It will be located behind the control room just off of the pool deck.
Participating Club Responsibilities: / Participating clubs are encouraged to provide as many certified officials as possible. Officials must present up to date and complete officials’ credentials each session. Please contact the meet referee to volunteer.
Participating clubs parents are not permitted on the pool deck except to officiate.
All athletes, coaches, volunteers and spectators are expected to follow all posted facility guidelines as well as any instructions as communicated by Facility or Meet Management throughout this two day event. Seating for both swimmers/coaches and spectators is open and available on a first-come, first-served basis. The saving of seats by spectators, swimmers or teams is strictly prohibited.
For this Meet (when not on deck for competition purposes), swimmers shall have available seating below the railing in the full bleacher section.Spectators shall be seated in the individual seats and/or facility-provided chairs on the available landing inside the natatorium. Outside chairs, other than those required for guests with disabilities, are strictly prohibited by facility management.
Sitting or standing on stairs or in aisles leading to exits is strictly prohibited by the Fire Marshall.
Entering the facility through doors other than the single set (just off of the primary parking lot) notated with 'Admissions' signs is strictly prohibited. Spectators attempting to enter through any other facility doors will be redirected.
Concessions: / RutgersUniversity will provide a varied menu of hot and cold refreshments until 5 PM each evening throughout the competition.
Vendor: / Metro Swim Shop will be located at the opposite end of the concourse from the spectator entrance.
