Benton County Farm Bureau Scholarship

Instructions and Information

Benton County Farm Bureau offers one $1500 scholarship to students whose parents are not members of Farm Bureau. This scholarship will be awarded to a high school senior entering college/university for the first time as a full time student and may be renewable each additional year upon application.

Applicant must be:

1. Committed to majoring in Agriculture and a career in Agriculture.

2. Be accepted by a recognized accredited college/university.

3. Must have demonstrated a significant interest in agriculture by active involvement in 4-H or FFA, or significant work experience in Agriculture.

4. Student must be a U.S. Citizen and a resident of Benton County Washington.

To apply, submit with attached cover sheet the following:

1. A copy of your accredited school/ college grade transcripts.

2. At least two letters of recommendation one preferably from a 4-H Leader or Vocational Agriculture Instructor and one from any other person of your choice, that is actively involved in Agriculture and knows of your interest in Agriculture.

3. A resume or summary of your activities and servicemust be submitted with your application. Include any of the following (FFA, extra curricular activities, student government, etc.); to your community (4-H, service projects, church, etc.); andaddress your past and current involvement in Agriculture.

4. Submit a 1-2 page essay on the importance of Agriculture. Indicate how you envision your involvement in an Agriculture leadership role in the future.

5. Prepare a proposed budget for the coming school year (expenses: tuition, books room and board, etc.) indicating how you plan to pay for your education beyond this scholarship (assets: savings, wages, parental support, other scholarships, etc.).

Return to the Benton County Farm Bureau Scholarship representative no later than May 1, 2018. Copy as needed.

Other details:

1. Applications are due by May 1st.

2.Applications received after the deadline will not be considered.

3. Applicants will be judged by the Benton County Farm Bureau Board.

4. Payment will be made directly to the college/university registrar’s office in his/her name, after:

a. Recipient has successfully completed (GPA 2.5 or better) and is enrolled for the next term.

b. Recipient must submit a copy of their first term transcripts and a verification of re-enrollment for the next term to the Benton County Farm Bureau Scholarship chair person to collect the scholarship funds.
