Benedictine University – Master of Public Health and/or Certificate inDisaster Management

This program will enable health care professionals, emergency workers, and government and law enforcement officials among others to work together to plan effectively for natural and manmade disasters. Using both conceptual and real life approaches, seasoned professionals in the field will train students in assessing risk, planning, communication with professionals and laymen, mitigation of risk, disaster response and recovery.

The Benedictine Disaster Management Certificate Program may be taken independent of the Master of Public Health Degree or as part of it. Faculty with specific expertise will teach each of the courses in a way that is engaging to the working professional. In these courses the student will learn the concepts, facts and skills that underlie effective Disaster Management. The emphasis will be on practical knowledge that cross cuts the many professions that must coordinate their efforts to meet an emergency. Students, who wish to apply their certificate credits to the MPH degree at Benedictine, may do so.
