Venue & Layout

We have very kindly been invited back to the gorgeous surroundings of the Park.

Non- residential, ponies and children arrive each day at Buckminster and will be incorporating dressage, grids, stable management, showjumping courses, games and cross country at appropriate levels of challenge, for all the rides.

A timetable will be displayed detailing each ride and their activities for the day.

Timings:

Junior Camp will commence with an unmounted briefing for parents and children at 9.30am on Tuesday in the Marquee, then riding at 10am each day, finishing at approximately 3.30pm.

Mini Camp will commence with an unmounted briefing for parents and children at 10am on Wednesday in the Marquee, then riding at 10.30am each day, finishing at approximately 3.15pm.

Please bring your own picnic lunch each day during camp, except Friday 29th July, when we plan to provide a BBQ – free for children attending camp. Adults and other family members please to pay for their own food.

Costs : For members who have attended 2 or more rallies this year Junior camp will be £125 for the 4 days teaching and mini will be £95 for the 3 days teaching. For those children who have not attended 2 rallies this year the cost is slightly more at £110 for mini and £145 for junior.

Age Groups:

Our key objective with Camp is to give all children an enjoyable, sociable and fun learning experience with their ponies.

Mini camp is 3 days :10.30am -3.15pm ( 3 lessons / day ) suitable for children up to 7/8 years, Junior is 4 days :10am-3.30pm (4 lessons / day) for those 7+ or by request, those already successfully competing @ 2ft+ SJ / ODE level.

Senior Camp is provided for children 11+ or yr 7 onwards, those who have completed year 6 may chose to attend either Senior Camp or Junior Camp for that year.

Great care and effort goes into planning the composition of the rides so children are well matched to rides and get the most out of camp, it is very helpful to give as much information as possible on the application form to assist this. We are particularly interested to hear if your child has a friend they would like to be in a ride with.

Health & Safety Information:

The camp activities will be held in large pasture fields with areas designated for different riding activities, which by their nature involve an element of risk. Due to the size and nature of the site, natural and man made hazards may present themselves; however, every effort will have been made where possible to mitigate this. Application for camp is deemed to be acceptance of the above.

For the duration of camp, a responsible person must be present at all times to help your child with the pony and their name / mobile number must be left with the organiser. Should that adult need to leave, other arrangements must be made, independent of the Instructor.

A photographer will be present during certain days of camp, taking photos of the children doing their activities. Please advise if you do not wish your child’s photograph to appear on the website.

All ponies must be safe, sound and in a good and healthy condition, capable of being ridden solidly for 3 or 4 days, by a child of the relevant age.

Please do not bring any dogs to camp

Please remember that camp is the highlight for many children (adults too!) of the pony club year, that we all want to enjoy it and all the organisation is voluntary!

Finally to allow camp to take place, we need help to set up camp on MONDAY 25TH July at 3pm and with some other specific jobs and to clear away on Friday 29th July before the prize giving can take place at c. 4pm.
