Classroom Goals:

  • Student will demonstrate appropriate work and social attitude and characteristics
  • Student will be able to apply concepts learned in the class in the workplace
  • The student will be able to handle animals so that the animal and human are not harmed in anyway and so that the task at hand can be completed
  • The student will be able to identify and rectify situations that could be a hazard to human/animal
  • The student will be able to demonstrate common steps to cleaning, handling, and maintaining health of animals

Procedures:

  • Entering classroom

Check daily assignment written on board

Follow instructions accordingly

Scrubs should be on, weekly animals taken care of and in your seat by 8am/12pm with notebook and pen or point deduction

  • Lateness

You are expected to arrive in class before the late bell

If you arrive to class after the late bell you must have a late pass from the office

You must have a note from a parent or guardian for anything other then bus lateness

  • Attendance

Students are expected to attend everyday that class is in session. When absent the student must bring in an excuse note that includes:

Date of absence

Reason for absence

Signature of parent or guardian

If student is absent due to a home school activity the excuse note must be written on letterhead from school and signed by guidance counselor.

All absent notes must be handed in the day the student returns to class. Unexcused absences result in a daily grade of ZERO. Excused absences result in a failing daily grade.

Student is responsible for making up all missed work. All work must be handed in by the end of the week or student will receive a zero.

  • Materials

Students are expected to be prepared everyday with the following materials:

Scrub uniform

Sneakers

2 inch (no less) Loose leaf binder - TO BE USED FOR ACS ONLY!!

Dividers for notebook

Pen

Highlighter

Rules:

Be respectful to all staff, students, and animals

Stay on task

Maintain appropriate behavior, language and relationships

Always be prepared for class

NO Cell Phones in class

Teacher/student discussion

Grade point deduction

Parent/teacher discussion

Guidance/referral

Activities:

  • Lesson

During the lesson students must raise their hands and wait until called on

to ask or answer questions.

Students will listen politely and not interrupt any teacher or student that is speaking

  • Daily Assignment

Students are expected to check new assignments the first day of each week.

Students are expected to follow all steps in training manual to complete their task within time allotted.

If the student has completed their job before the time limit, they are expected to assist other students that need help or ask teacher for an additional assignment.

Students are permitted to talk as long as it does not interfere with task performance.

  • Cooperative Group

Teacher will assign groups for certain assignments

Students are expected to perform task so that all students have participated to the best of their ability and that the task is fully completed.

Students can talk at this time as long as it does not interfere with task performance.
