General Business:

Head2Head Charity – Paul Dickson and Ange spoke about the project they are starting at Awhitu School. They have asked the kids what they wanted, and accordingly will be clearing a path for an approx. 500m walkway through bush and pine trees beside the Matakawau Walkway. A key priority is to bring in birdlife with plants that encourage that. They indicated that they would appreciate any volunteer help given and would start with a working bee on Sunday 10th May, with parents of children as main support crew. Next year the Charity would look at purchasing plants from the nursery. Expertise on spraying weeds would be appreciated to educate school staff. Don Austin at Council should be first contact for this.

Committee Emails – To retain organisational knowledge and ensure the committee has a co-ordinated approach, when writing concerning any matters to do with Awhitu Landcare a copy of this must always come through to the Landcare email address. All agreed

Plastic Recycling –Action: Anna W to write to Combined Ratepayers informing them that we are supportive in their drive to include plastics at the Matakawau Recycling Centre. Action: Gary will mention this at their next meeting.
