BEFORE YOUR SURGERY

  • Do not eat or drink anything after midnight the night before your surgery, unless otherwise instructed by your physician (this includes water, hard candy, ice chips, cough drops, and mints). It is important that your stomach be empty when you are given anesthesia. You may brush your teeth.
  • Please notify us if you have been diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea.
  • If you have an allergy to latex products, please inform your physician or his/her office staff prior to your surgery date.
  • Refrain from smoking the night before and the day of surgery. No smoking within the facility at any time.
  • If you take blood pressure, heart, stomach, seizure or asthma medications, you may take them on the morning of surgery with a sip of water (one ounce or less).
  • If you are a diabetic and take insulin of oral diabetic medication, you should not take these medications the morning of your surgery.
  • I you take blood thinners medication (anti-coagulants) or aspirin, check with your physician about withholding this medication before your surgery.
  • If you are taking prescription diet pills or anti-depressants up to two weeks prior to your surgery date, you must inform your physician about this medication.
  • If you are scheduled for a facial surgery of eye surgery, please do not wear makeup.
  • If you wear contact lenses or glasses, please bring lens case and solution or eyeglass case with you for storage on the day of surgery.
  • All jewelry must be left at home (this includes jewelry on any pierced body part).
  • If your child is having surgery, you may bring his/her pajamas, diapers, clothes and favorite toy or blanket. You may also bring your child’s personal bottle or favorite cup. We will provide juice after surgery. Milk or milk products are not recommended after surgery.
  • You must notify your physician if you develop a fever, cold, or other illness that could delay or cancel your surgery. Your physician or your physician’s office staff will then notify us.
  • Your physician’s office staff may give you an estimated surgery or arrival time. Our surgery schedule is finalized the afternoon before your surgery, and our staff will make every effort to contact you. If we have not spoken with you, please call us at 435-637-4800 after 2:00p.m. the day before your surgery for conformation of your surgery and arrival times. Our staff will discuss and answer any question about your surgery at this time.
