The HIV pandemic shows that it is not only a health-care problem or a problem of sexual morality but also involves all the dimensions of the human being at a personal and social level.
In some countries the percentage of people infected by the virus reaches 30%. This means that almost one person in every three can be a carrier of the virus…
A Samaritan traveller who … came on the man who had
been stripped and beaten…was moved with compassion
when he saw him. He went up to him and bandaged
his wounds, pouring oil and wine on them.
He lifted him on his own mount and took him to an inn and
looked after him. Luke 10, 30-35
Let us pray for those who are infected by the virus,
So that they don’t lose hope,
For the organizations looking after their human rights,
For the scientists who try to eradicate the virus,
For the doctors, nurses and other people who look after members
of their family day after day, that they show compassion and love,
For the religious men and women so that we be instrument of God’s love for them.
