BEE Athletic Boosters Meeting

June 2, 2014

Attendees: Beth O’Donnell, Dave Frederick, Jennifer Starinsky, Ron Ring, Cindy Ring, Julie Seballos, Dave Best, John Graham, Karen Graham, Dan Kalinsky, Mary Grace Demitrijevs, Suzanne Sorige, Terri Murray, Candice Beaver, Len Nowacki, Jen Schott, JoAnn Farwell.

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 by President, Beth O’Donnell.

President, Beth O’Donnell:

·  Thank you senior parents and officers for serving on the board.

·  We collected 12,008 pounds of clothes and made $3,500 for the Boosters from our Easter Seals

drive.

·  In the executive meeting last month we approved the 2 requested allocations for cleaning the bee costume and the stadium improvements.

First Vice President, Dave Frederick:

·  Nothing to report.

Second Vice President, Diane Fischer: (not present)

·  Erin Beaver and Nick Shirillo were the recipients of this year’s Boosters scholarship.

Secretary, JoAnn Farwell:

·  Nothing to report.

·  Jen Starinsky made a motion to approve the May Regular minutes. Mary Grace Demitrijevs seconded the motion. Dave Frederick made a motion to approve the May Executive minutes. Ron Ring seconded the motion. A voice vote was held. The motion carried.

Treasurer, Jen Starinsky:

·  The Treasurer’s report was presented. Very little activity since last meeting.

·  We will be selling scoreboard advertising. 30 slots for $100 each. $3,000 of income.

·  We have about $32,000 in equity.

·  Julie Seballos made a motion to approve the financial statements. Terri Murray seconded the motion. A voice vote was held. The motion carried.

Membership, Julie Seballos:

·  There is a flyer for membership in the district calendar. All levels are the same.

·  If you don’t get your membership card just bring your paypal receipt to get into a game.

Team Reports, David Best:

·  Girls HS LAX went 8-7-1. They were beat in the first round.

·  Boys HS LAX finished just under .500. There are 11 seniors graduating.

·  Baseball won the SWC. They have won it for the past 8 years. 14-9 overall. They unfortunately lost in the first round of playoffs.

·  Girl’s Track and Field thanks the Boosters for the timing system used in their invitational. What a great year. 5 records were made. Over 30 performances made the All Time Top Ten Performance List at BBHHS. SWC champs. District Champs. Competed in Regionals last week with several State qualifiers.

·  Softball. Fabulous season, 2nd in Ohio. 29-3 record. SWC Champs. Went as deep in post season as ever in school history. Got to the Elite 8 and lost in the Regional Championship. Thanks to the Boosters for the bullpen.

·  MS no update.

High School Athletic Director, Dan Kalinsky:

·  Thanks to all officers for a great year.

·  We will be putting asphalt around the band bleachers.

·  As noted in past meetings there have been discussions regarding the acoustics in the gym. A consultant came in and measured the sound quality which was very low. It will be about $50,000 to treat the ceiling with panels. A sound system is also needed which is another $20,000.

Allocation Requests:

·  Jen Schott requested approx. $100 each for a homecoming and a We love our seniors sign. The banners will be able to be passed on to future years and shared between teams. Banners will be available to borrow thru the athletic department. This will be discussed in the Executive meeting.

·  Discussions were made regarding acoustically treating the gym. Jen Starinsky made a motion to approve up to $50,000. Dave Best seconded the motion. A voice vote was held. The motion carried. This has to be approved by the Board of Education.

New Business:

·  The golf outing is at Sleepy Hollow on September 5.
