Because I love learning and being around people, I experience great joy in teaching. I want my students to experience passion for learning as well. I was born in France where my father was an American GI. We were a military family and traveled when I was small. I grew up in Michigan, graduated from Michigan State and earned my Master’s Degree from UCF. I always wanted to be a teacher. I love music and drama so I played in the high school band and acted in plays.
Clearly, I am a nature person. I love learning about natural events and being surrounded by nature’s awesomeness and mysteries. I don’t need to wander far; I just need to look closely at what’s in front of me. My home reflects this with the type of house it is, decorations, and artwork. I live in Mt. Plymouth where I enjoy hiking.
Because I delight in non-fiction, I read books and watch movies about people who have overcome challenging beginnings to accomplish great things. This summer, I loved watching McFarland, USA. I continue to read books about Seminole Indians and have spent a week, in their company, learning in a seminar. I can stand in my front yard, in the middle of the night to watch rockets go off from the Cape.
I have been married over 30 years and do not have any children, but we have rescued a number of pets.
Quotes that keep me going: Always Remember, you are braver than you seem, stronger than you feel, and smarter than you think. - Christopher Robin to Pooh.
Knowledge is Power
The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.” ― Ralph Waldo Emerson
