She is looking for assistance to purchase track shoes for ASDB team members who cannot afford them. The club will take this up at the Board meeting, but anyone who can help should contact her.
The annual Sunshine Acres BBQ is coming up on Sunday February 27th in Mesa. This is the 57th annual fund raising event for the Mesa Optimist Club. They would welcome you to come and lend a hand. This runs from 11:00AM to 3:00PM, but you can get there a bit early to get an assignment. Sunshine Acres is on Higley Road just south of the 202 Parkway (North). That’s I-10 to the 202 in Phoenix just as you get there, then the 202 east and around past the 60 to Higley.
Thursday March 2nd will be the kick off for the Jim Click “Millions For Tucson Raffle”. The vehicle being raffled this year is a 2017 Ford Explorer Platinum ! Last year our club gained $1,200 from this event, and we can do better this year! The kick off event is at Reid Park Zoo from 5PM to 7 PM. If you want to go to represent our cvlub, let Jose know!
Club Work Needed
*** Park Place Mall was not ready to have us pick up the furniture items last week, so this job has been reset for after our meeting on March 2nd. Again we need trucks and bodies! This stuff includes 4 file cabinets, 8-19 metal coffee style tables, 15 bar stools, 6 padded arm chairs an archway, trellis and some art supplies.***
Water Stations; we need to do some modifications and repair to our water stations prior to the set up day for us at the Spring Fourth Avenue Street Fair. That is Thursday March 23rd with the fair running Friday March 24th to Sunday March 26th. The PVC has not weathered well. Willard has a few ideas to make a new style leg holder that will also adjust for uneven surfaces. Other than that, only touch up is needed. This sounds like about a 12 pack job. Check with Willard at the Bat Cave if you can help.
And …. Finally, from the book “Savvy Sayin’s”:
“The hottest fire is made by the wood you chop yourself.”
‘Till next issue.
