Thank you for your interest in The Mandalay Bay’s “Heatin’ Up the Bay” BBQ and Chili Cookoff presented by Smart and Final. This cook off will be held October 29th and 30th, 2004 in Las Vegas, Nevada at one of the world’s most exciting destinations. The Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino on the strip is next to its sister properties the Luxor and Excalibur. The BBQ and Chili cook off will be in conjunction with the Pro Bull Riders Built Ford Tough World Finals. The Mandalay Bay will host the PBR Party Zone and we will be in that area. The BBQ will be a Kansas City Barbeque Society sanctioned contest, America’s #1 sanctioning body. The total prize package for the BBQ will be $40,000 with the Grand Champions purse at $12,000. The contest reps will be Carolyn Wells, Ron Harwell and Tony Stone. Please contact me for room rates at all connected properties of the tram. The tram ride is a non-stop ride from additional properties. Along with the information listed, their will be entertainment both days at the PBR Party Zone Stages and the Western Gift Expo at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center, Bayside D, one of the largest in the area.

Smart and Final is sponsoring the chili and barbeque contests. Smart & Final sells food, foodservice products and professional-quality culinary equipment through warehouse stores, wholesale stores and direct-delivery foodservicedistribution businesses. Check out the cook off sponsor at www.smartandfinal.com. Smart and Final’s Chef Jamie Gwen will also be on hand to give both bbq and chili demonstrations on the Smart and Final Stage. You can catch her preparing something delicious on various shows on The Do It Yourself Network (DIY), Home & Garden Television (HGTV), and a variety of news programs.

Entry fee will include your space for Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Extra space will be available. Water and electric will be available to most sites. (15amp) Your entry fee will include all categories. Sites will be assigned as your entry forms are received and space is limited. Teams will provide all necessary supplies for contest. In signing this entry form I understand that no money will be refunded and my team agrees to abide by the rules of KCBS and the on-site BBQ Committee. Any team with a sponsor must be approved prior to acceptance. I also understand that I am responsible for my teams conduct.

Waiver of Liability: In consideration of accepting this entry, I the undersigned agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Kansas City Barbecue Society, KCBS Reps, Arlie Bragg, Meyer Watkins Associates, Smart & Final Inc., Mandalay Corp. D/B/A Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, its parent, subsidiaries, affiliates, offices, directors and employees against any claim or action or for any cause.

I agree that I will be responsible for my own insurance and under this hold harmless clause that is made a part of this contract. I have carefully read and fully understand its contents. I am aware that this is a release of liability, hold harmless agreement and assumption of risk agreement and that it is a legally binding contract. I further understand that this release is binding on my heirs or anyone making a claim.

I acknowledge that the organizer reserves the right to exclude any team from entering the competition. In the event my team is excluded prior to the beginning of the competition, I acknowledge and agree that the entry fee paid by my team will be fully refunded.

I further acknowledge that organizer reserves the right to regulate, exclude, or require the removal of any and all banners, flags, signs, paraphernalia, or other displays in and around my team’s contest site. In the event that BBQ committee / organizer directs my team to remove, conceal, or obscure any display that, in its sole discretion, deems to be objectionable, I agree to comply. If I choose not to comply with such a direction, I acknowledge and agree that my team may be excluded from the competition and/or be directed to leave the contest site. In such event, I acknowledge and agree that my team’s entry fee will not be refunded. I sign of my own free will. I also grant permission to use any photos, videotapes, motion pictures or record of this event for any legitimate purpose. You must be present to win.
