Star of the week!
This week we have chosen Adam Retia for being our super star of the week! Adam was chosen for doing the right thing and following our class rules.
Our Class Learning
As we come to the end of our first term in school, may we take this opportunity to thank you for all of your support. We have really enjoyed getting to know the children and they have all settled in really well.
This week we have been continuing to learn about Harvest. The children learnt that Harvest means gathering in the crops. We learnt that potatoes and carrots grow in the ground and that the fisherman catch fish from the sea and the rivers. We also explained that at Harvest time we say thank you to the farmers for growing wheat. On Wednesday afternoon in R.Ethe children acted out the story of the Little Red Hen and painted pictures and made models of the Little Red Hen. We then enjoyed baking bread on Thursday.
We also made some fantastic masks for our performance of ‘Dingle Dangle Scarecrow,’ in Church on Friday afternoon.
We hope that you have a lovely half term holiday and we look forward to seeing you on Monday 31st October 2016.
As we are a Church school we do not celebrate Halloween, however we will be sharing the story, ‘Room on the Broom,’ by Julia Donaldson and we will be looking at the seeds inside the pumpkin. We will also be adding green water and spiders to water tray to enjoy learning about capacity as we make witches brews and potions. I am sure it will be a fun first week back. We will also be sharing our holiday news and talking about what we have been doing. If you want to share any photographs you can upload them to Early Essence or email Miss James.
Next term we will also be learning about different festivals and why Christian families celebrate Christmas. We will also be learning about the Hindu festival of Diwali. We will also be enjoying celebrating Bonfire night through art, songs, stories and role-play. It will be a busy and exciting second term!
