Bateman/Per Ardua Competitions 2013/14
I am writing to you with the details of this year’s Bateman/ Per Ardua competitions. As you know the competition is split - with teams from the Premier Division, Division 1 and Division 2 participating in the Bateman Shield, and teams from Divisions3, 4, 5 and 6 participating in the Per Ardua Plate.
The first 2 rounds are "play by" dates. This gives teams the flexibility to mutually arrange fixtures on a date to suit both teams, with the possibility of freeing up a Saturday. Competition dates are as follows:
Bateman /Per Ardua dates:
Round 1 “Play by” date - Saturday 26th October 2013
Round 2 “Play by” date - Saturday 7th December 2013
Quarter Finals (Fixed date) PM- Saturday 25th January 2014
Semi Finals (Fixed date) PM Saturday 8th March 2014
Finals (Fixed date) - Saturday 5th April 2014
NB If you cannot agree on a date for rounds 1 or 2, the play by date must be used.
The Quarter Finals, Semi Finals and Finals are fixed dates in the netball calendar. These games will be played at central venue and neutral umpires will be provided (see Rule 5). Note – no exceptions will be allowed this year to playing on these fixed dates, other than for higher netball commitments in line with Rule D.30.ii.
Your league entry includes entry into the Bateman or Per Ardua competitions. However, there is an “Opt Out" system, where if your team does not want to participate in either the Bateman or Per Ardua, you have the opportunity to Opt Out of the competition AHEAD of the first round draw. In order to opt out, you must email me at by Saturday 14th September so that I ensure your team is removed from the competition. If you do not do this, and you subsequently want to withdraw, you will be liable for any court costs incurred. If you are withdrawing a team, you must provide me with a list of 7 players who will not be able to participate for your Club in the competition (see rule 3).
